WeeHeavySD (1699), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA Aug 30, 2006 Updated: Apr 5, 2008 A clear cut essential re-rate. Beer 6 of Officially the Best Thursday in Beer ever in the existence of my life. A so called pallet cleanse, Bill from the other site provided a 1996 Vintage Bottle and damn damn damn it was sick. Really freaking amazing makes me want to buy a pallet and put it in a storage unit for a decade and watch it mature. Damn Damn Damn Damn
Beer 13 Summer 2006 trip in Europe. Drank on 7/1/06 from the bottle at Cantillon. I sampled this after my tour. This framboise is dry and subtle and very tasty. The taste of fruit is not overwhelming but present in every sip
17thfloor (636), Chicago, Illinois, USA Aug 20, 2008 [Vintage clue? 08DEC01] Thick syrupy brown vinegar seepage on the top of the cork. Pours a murky grapefruit pink with a lovely white froth. Big raspberry seed aroma with lots of dusty tart yeast as well, phenomenally great pairing. So tangy! intense... lingering raspberry seeds. This stuff is ridiculously sour and acidic. Like drinking raspberry flavored battery acid. nick76 (2015), Tampa, Florida, USA Aug 17, 2008 There is raspberry in the aroma but it is overpowered by bathroom, lactic bacteria, wild yeast, and acid. The appearance is raspberry red with a small head. The flavor is like the aroma. The palate is thin. There is nothing in it to save it. Palidor19 (1245), Brandon, Florida, USA Aug 17, 2008 I like nice fruity lambic, but this just too way to sour for me to fully enjoy, the aroma is nice with some nice spring raspberries. The acidity of the beer is wild and intense, expect to pucker. NomDeBeer (129), Baltimore, Maryland, USA Aug 11, 2008 My first lambic . . . WOW. This is a whole new universe of flavor. I didn’t know beer could taste like this. Acid reflux-inducingly sour and acid - this really took me by surprise, but after a while I warmed up to it. Took me a long time to finish this, but it was still enjoyable once I wrapped my palate around it. Mitch_Wayne (77), Kokkola, Finland Aug 7, 2008 I have often started a few things in my life with the wrong foot and having this as the first lambic certainly belongs to that category. The scent is nothing that I would call fruity, all I got was metal and sourness with maybe a hint of raspberry if I am forced to make that judgement. The taste follows suit, the sourness overpowers the taste and there is not that much to taste aside from that besides the sweetness. Reminds me of a bad, one dimensional wine, this certainly didn’t convert me to a lambic drinker.
