COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
"It has the colour of onion skin", said a voice behind me. It was Raymond Coumans. He was admiring the colour of the raspberry lambic reflecting in the red copper of the buckets used to empty the barrels. At that time (1986), "Raspberry-Lambic" already was synonymous with a sweet, artificially flavoured beer. This is why we decided to distinguish our beer from the other raspberry beers. Raymond proposed to call it a rosé, dedicated not to Bacchus but to Gambrinus.

The process to make this beer is identical to the one to make Kriek. When young, the Rosé de Gambrinus will still present its full fruity taste. Later on, the lambic taste will become dominant at the expense of the fruit taste.

NYC Trip Beer #17. Decided to keep the epic nature of this trip rolling by trying Cantillon for the very first time. Pours a lovely hazy pink with a rapidly diminishing full white head. Smells like raspberry with sweet and dry flavor. Bubbles like a champagne. Good, but a bit pricey, even for NYC standards. Bottle - Sputyen Duyvil - New York, NY

From 33cl bottle bought @ La Birreria (Andorra), bottled October 6 2011. Rosé clear body with a pink puffy head. Strong raspberry aromas flowing, with grassy and floral undertones adding a nice complexity for this type of beer. Medium sour, light bitter, light sweet to go together with the fruit tastes. The lambic is well present but the fruit is dominant. Lively carbonation with a light body and a thin texture, with a long sour finish that hints a little bitterness. Very refreshing beer, extremely well crafted and well balanced in its fruit content since this is still a young bottle. Excellent!

2003 375cl What a phenomenal beer, complex aromas and flavor. Pours light ruby color with a pink head and still had carbonation! The nose is complex sour vinous with aromas of wet socks and raspberry. The palate zings on the tongue. Oak, vinous flavors, and tart raspberry and cherries. Amazing.

Pours dusk red-pink with a large light pink head. Smells fruity and acidic, like extremely sour raspberries. Taste is fruity, tart, sour, hints of sweetness, very complex. Medium-bodied with an astringent texture and fizzy mouth-carbonation, Cantillon Rosé De Gambrinus finishes with a sharp, quick astringency that mellows to a subtle tartness.

Poured from a 750ml bottle dated 2007. Poured cloudy red with a fair amount of yeast. The flavor is tart raspberry, dusty, slight grainy character. Very acidic. A bit one dimensional.

Poured from a bottle at the brewery. Pours a mostly clear, deep red-amber colored body with a finger-width, off-white/pinkish, fizzy head that dissipates quickly and leaves a light lacing. Aroma is pleasantly funky with a nice raspberry tartness, a solid dry oak with some tannins, a bit of a musty note, and a light acidity. Flavor is similar. Lightly acidic throughout with a nice raspberry tartness and some musty funk. Touches of sweetness with some oaky tannins before this finishes dry and tart with a moderate funk before leaving a lengthy aftertaste. Light body and an active carbonation. Overall, a really great beer. Slightly acidic and tart with a nice funky, oaky element. Easy drinking, well balanced, and very enjoyable.
