jfb (413), Weihenstephan, Germany Apr 21, 2009 (bottle, 2007) pours an orange-tinted red with a bubbly pink head. aroma of rhubarb, raspberries, lovely tart wildberries and lots of sour funk. flavour is mostly sour funky raspberries with a hint of lemon and balsamic vinegar and a long sweet bready finish. quite light body with sparkling carbonation and a mouth-puckering sour finish. ogivlado (3036), Zagreb, Croatia Apr 18, 2009 Bottled(375ml). -My second Cantillon. Nice peachy orange coloured, small white head that went away for two seconds, strong sour nose. Deadly sour raspberries, yeasty and slight fruity taste with dry notes of wood and cork. Dry sour finish with hint of vanilla. Vintage 2007. HonkeyBra (1266), Lemont, Illinois, USA Apr 17, 2009 2007 bottle. Light pink our with some head. Aroma of tart raspberries, sourness, and funk. Flavor is sour, tart, tangy raspberries, funk. Light acidity, pucking and mouthwatering which is what I want. Really great, but glad i got the small bottle. KyotoLefty (1371), Kyoto, Japan Apr 14, 2009 2008 bottle. Lovely salmon pink color with just a touch of lace. Fruity vinegar aroma, with raspberries, citrus, horse blanket. Sour, tangy flavor, with citrus, fruit, funk. Not very distinctly raspberry to me. Very nice, with strong sour fruit. Great stuff, but a bit behind their other beers that I have had.
heavy (811), Split, Croatia Apr 11, 2009 07/04 0.375 l bottle, vintage 2007, courtesy of ogivlado, thanks for sharing! It poured amber murky body with medium sized head that went down soon. Sourish lambic and raspberry aroma, notes of cork. Flavor is sour of course, quite dry and yeasty. Finish contains some raspberries, at last, but it’s predominately acidic as well. Cantillon is overpriced a lot, as of my experience so far...It’s not a bad beer, and I even like the opposite way of thinking - less juice, more beer, but simply it’s nothing special, unremarkable. Doggythedog (1541), Split, Croatia Apr 7, 2009 Bottle (bottled 24.4.2007) shared with heavy and ogivlado, courtesy of the latter (huge thanks!). Poured a cloudy reddish body with a small head, extremely fizzy. Yeasty nose, acidic/funky, some sweetish notes of raspberries. Very acidic, salty even taste, chalky and funky (eggy), dry, with no fruitiness in the taste itself, just some traces of raspberries in the aftertaste. Very authentic and interesting, but not all that easy to enjoy because of all that acidity... just some frutiy nose and it’d be very nice. Not the best Cantillon there is I reckon. boFNjackson (1233), Portland, Oregon, USA Apr 2, 2009 Updated: Apr 4, 2009Bottle... Poured a cloudy peach with a white head. Yeast aroma with light fruit. Dry, thick palate and was a little boozy but also very balanced. Finished sour and tart with a thick residue left in my mouth. Rciesla (3500), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA Mar 27, 2009 750ml 2004 Vintage, not the best vintage i’ve had. Pours an ugly hazy amber ruby body with a pink head. Some light tart lemon cherry acidity with a light woodiness. Quickly becoming an onslaught of lactic acid and hints of isovaleric acid. Wow this is acidic as hell, ill re rate this when i get a better vintage.
