Commercial Description:
"It has the colour of onion skin", said a voice behind me. It was Raymond Coumans. He was admiring the colour of the raspberry lambic reflecting in the red copper of the buckets used to empty the barrels. At that time (1986), "Raspberry-Lambic" already was synonymous with a sweet, artificially flavoured beer. This is why we decided to distinguish our beer from the other raspberry beers. Raymond proposed to call it a rosé, dedicated not to Bacchus but to Gambrinus.

The process to make this beer is identical to the one to make Kriek. When young, the Rosé de Gambrinus will still present its full fruity taste. Later on, the lambic taste will become dominant at the expense of the fruit taste.

750ml 2004 Vintage, not the best vintage i’ve had. Pours an ugly hazy amber ruby body with a pink head. Some light tart lemon cherry acidity with a light woodiness. Quickly becoming an onslaught of lactic acid and hints of isovaleric acid. Wow this is acidic as hell, ill re rate this when i get a better vintage.

750ml. 2001 vintage. Served into Hoegaarden glass. Pour is murky amber/orange with small white head. Aromas of vinegar, sour tart fruit, and some oak. Flavor is straight up sour! This one makes your mouth pucker like no other. Very smooth and tart. Lambic? no i think this one is a Sour for sure. Great job Cantillon!

2006 Bottle bought in Maine. Definitely more lambic than fruit in this bottle. Tough to tell that it is actually a framboise. Very funky, sour and tart. Nice overall though.

2007 Bottle. Thin pinkish red body with a thin fizzy white head. Aroma is predominantly oak, wood, and funk, then some soft fresh raspberry flesh. Taste is fantastic, lambic funk, horseblanket, vinegar acidity, then the raspberries add just a touch of fruit.

Very red body, no head, aroma of tart cherries, taste matches, felt like a sour ale actually. Really enjoyed this.

Bottle at Novare Res. Pours a nice hazy red with a white foamy head. Smells of raspberries and hints of sour fruits. Flavor is dominated by soured fruit flavor, there’s a sweet/sour and acidic bite in the finish. This actually was quite simple for a lambic, it’s got that yogurt/cheese kind of flavor that all great lambics have, but this is suble. I liked this, but didnt love it.

Bottle from Charleston Beer Exchange. Pours a hazy red, with a nice comfy white head that has hints of red. Smells funky, rasberrys, maybe strawberries. Good so far. Medium mouthfeel, nice carbonation and definitely full of rasberries and even makes ya pucker. Very solid brew, lookin forward to more Cantillon.
