Cantillon Rosé De Gambrinus

On tap at Lion’s Pride. Reddish pink pour with a slight pink head, Aroma is sour raspberry and some musty yeast funk. mouthful is Fruity, raspberry seeds - followed by a tartness and some light playful funk. Crisp and dry finish. Yummy

Bottle. A sour aroma, fruity with a hidden sweetness, some sulfur. The pink head is medium large and with a short duration. The body is bright red. The taste is sour and fruity, very dry and long staying in the mouth. The finish is a little bit burning. The body is rather soft, very dry and with a lively carbonation.

Pours a red color with a thin white head. Has an acidic brett smell to it. The taste starts off sour and then goes to a raspberry tart finish.

Bottled:19Feb08 Reviewed:08Oct09 Blood red pour, very effervescent, which contributes to a lasting small head. Aroma is, as expected, a veritable mix of raspberry and incredibly complex funk. Lots of acidic tang, but in no way vinegary. There’s a mix of goat and horse stable in there. Raspberry aroma is not at all artificial or sugary. Incredibly tart taste, I’m glad I didn’t leave this any longer and let more of the fruitiness disappear. Again, strong funk is definitely present, as is a high sourness, which is no doubt contributed to by the prominent (once you’ve got used to the acidity) raspberry character. Woody oak also becomes quite noticeable after a few sips, which gives another twist. Body is rather watery, it goes with the quenching character of the beer. A bit too tart for my liking, but still nice none the less.

2008 bottle thanks to petematte. Red with no head. Nose is cantillon funk, tart raspberries and wood. Awesome on the palate with a very tart raspberry flavor that has the perfect amount of bite and flavor to balance it out.

75CL bottle at OTS beerfestival Geel (Belgium). Red beer with a small pink head. Very fruity aroma. Flavor: sour, fruity and woody notes. Excellent beer.

375ml bottle from Nectar in Brisbane (recommended). A orangey red beer with a small but lasting pink head. Aromas of raspberries, wild yeasts with a hint of woodiness and Turkish Delight. The flavour is wonderfully dry and tart with a hint of oranges and peppery spices coming through at the end. Very refreshing and moreish. Another winner from this excellent brewery.

Pours hazy red with a creamy off-white head. Aroma raspberry fruity and dry. Flavour is dry raspberry fruity with a light dry wooden note. Dry acidic to citric finish. Classic Cantillon dryness yet delicate fruity touch all the way through.
