Commercial Description:
"It has the colour of onion skin", said a voice behind me. It was Raymond Coumans. He was admiring the colour of the raspberry lambic reflecting in the red copper of the buckets used to empty the barrels. At that time (1986), "Raspberry-Lambic" already was synonymous with a sweet, artificially flavoured beer. This is why we decided to distinguish our beer from the other raspberry beers. Raymond proposed to call it a rosé, dedicated not to Bacchus but to Gambrinus.

The process to make this beer is identical to the one to make Kriek. When young, the Rosé de Gambrinus will still present its full fruity taste. Later on, the lambic taste will become dominant at the expense of the fruit taste.

I’ve experienced this on multiple occasions at multiple ages, and once on tap. Every taste has been fantastic, with minor raspberry notes, and a well balanced lambic running the main flavors. Mellows out beautifully after about 4 or 5 years. Yum!

Bottle from Belgian belly. Rose colour with light carbonation and whitish head. Beautiful aroma of berries couched in silage, barnyard and sea water. detonates on the tongue with rasberries, grapefruit and lots of dry, sour, woody flecks. Long, dry grapefruit sour finish. Big Hitter!

37.5 cL bottle at Řlbaren. Pours hazy red with a creamy off-white head. Aroma raspberry fruity and dry. Flavour is dry raspberry fruity with a light dry wooden note. Dry acidic to citric finish. Classic Cantillon dryness yet delicate fruity touch all the way through.

Beautiful pinky with a vanishing soft head. Barnyardy, raspberry, bloody/metallic, citric, woody, vinylic, fruity and little cellar notes. Tartness is more than any Cantillon i’ve drank so far, but still damn good. Very dry.

75 cl bottle. Bottled in 2007. Pours a peachy red colour with a white (and just a hint of pink) head. Aroma is some funky barnyard notes (sweaty horse; we meet again) mixed with really nice raspberry notes. Very promising! Flavour is very tart with notes of lemon and grapefruit juice, some funky funk and a coule of subtle raspberries. The finish is dry, woody, earty and quite sour. In large quantities this gets to sour for me. But with some stinky and rich cheese or with food with a distinct sourness this is great! This is great as an apéritif as well, since the tartness is so mouthwatering. I also tried this together with some salty liquorice which actually was a great combination! (Together with the right food I would probably give this a score that was closer to 4.0 than 3.5.)
