Commercial Description:
"It has the colour of onion skin", said a voice behind me. It was Raymond Coumans. He was admiring the colour of the raspberry lambic reflecting in the red copper of the buckets used to empty the barrels. At that time (1986), "Raspberry-Lambic" already was synonymous with a sweet, artificially flavoured beer. This is why we decided to distinguish our beer from the other raspberry beers. Raymond proposed to call it a rosé, dedicated not to Bacchus but to Gambrinus.

The process to make this beer is identical to the one to make Kriek. When young, the Rosé de Gambrinus will still present its full fruity taste. Later on, the lambic taste will become dominant at the expense of the fruit taste.

37,5 cl bottle at my small outdoor tasting together with Kjetil B., Roger and Asgeir. Hazy red color, moderate white head. Aroma is sour and fruity. Flavor is berries and a very nice sourness. Dry.

37.5 cL bottle at Ølbaren. Pours hazy red with a creamy off-white head. Aroma raspberry fruity and dry. Flavour is dry raspberry fruity with a light dry wooden note. Dry acidic to citric finish. Classic Cantillon dryness yet delicate fruity touch all the way through.

Beautiful pinky with a vanishing soft head. Barnyardy, raspberry, bloody/metallic, citric, woody, vinylic, fruity and little cellar notes. Tartness is more than any Cantillon i’ve drank so far, but still damn good. Very dry.

75 cl bottle. Bottled in 2007. Pours a peachy red colour with a white (and just a hint of pink) head. Aroma is some funky barnyard notes (sweaty horse; we meet again) mixed with really nice raspberry notes. Very promising! Flavour is very tart with notes of lemon and grapefruit juice, some funky funk and a coule of subtle raspberries. The finish is dry, woody, earty and quite sour. In large quantities this gets to sour for me. But with some stinky and rich cheese or with food with a distinct sourness this is great! This is great as an apéritif as well, since the tartness is so mouthwatering. I also tried this together with some salty liquorice which actually was a great combination! (Together with the right food I would probably give this a score that was closer to 4.0 than 3.5.)

37,5cl bottle. Rusty, applejuice color, no head. Beautiful fermented raspberry juice aroma, only slightly tart. Flavor has very acidic red currants. Tart and acidic, but extremely drinkable. Medium bodied, low carbonation and slightly seedy, tannic palate. The best lambic I’ve had so far, it’s got nature coming out of everywhere.

Bottle - Cap/Cork: Poured a pinkish white with a off white head. The aroma busted out with sour fruit on the pour, closer sniff gave me the raspberry but still sourness. Taste puckers the lips with loads of sourness and tart, the taste is a burning fruit mostly raspberry.

Hazy rose color, taste of sour patch kids, not overly sweet like others... Worth every penny...
