Commercial Description:
"It has the colour of onion skin", said a voice behind me. It was Raymond Coumans. He was admiring the colour of the raspberry lambic reflecting in the red copper of the buckets used to empty the barrels. At that time (1986), "Raspberry-Lambic" already was synonymous with a sweet, artificially flavoured beer. This is why we decided to distinguish our beer from the other raspberry beers. Raymond proposed to call it a rosé, dedicated not to Bacchus but to Gambrinus.

The process to make this beer is identical to the one to make Kriek. When young, the Rosé de Gambrinus will still present its full fruity taste. Later on, the lambic taste will become dominant at the expense of the fruit taste.

[Bottle, thanks Brewfiend] Pours cloudy pink with a big pink head. Aroma is sour and funky with some raspberry. Taste is about the same. Medium mouthfeel. This didn’t set itself apart from some other lambics I have had, but it was still quite enjoyable nonetheless.

Pours opaque reddish ruby with small, slowly dissapting white head. Sour aromas of fruit- raspberry mostly. A little vague however, and not very pronounced. Flavours of tart raspberry with a bit of cherry in there as well. Very very sour- almost too much so. Fruity notes are more prevalent after the initial shock of tart. Dry, acidic finish.

Bottle, 37,5 cl. Red, orange, clear, a minimal head. Heavily sour and medium sweetness. A good dry taste of raspberry, fruity and very good.

Sampled at Cellar’s Wine & Spirits in St Paul, MN and shared by brewfiend. Pours a fizzy reddish/orange amber brew with a light pink and fast dissolving head. Aroma of light tart raspberries, some flowery and yeast funk, and some drid herbs. Taste is medium bodied, well carbonated with flavors of tart berries, barnyard yeasty funk, and a touch of sour apple skin. Finish is spritzy tart with a light yeast aftertaste. A nice fruity lambic.

Pours amber with a white head. Aroma is a sour musty raspberry. Flavor is a medium tart with some raspberry. The flavor actually gets more tart as you go, but never so tart that it hurts. Overall the raspberry is an aftertaste instead of a prominent flavor.

Pinkish/oarnge in color with a white head. Alot of sour rasberries in the nose along with some malt. A nice sipper - nice malt character balanced with the sour rasberry. One of the best lambics out there.

June 2006 Bottling. Blood orange in colour; very illuminated and lively. Big nose of musty fruits and very sour raspberry fruits (and perhaps a touch of strawberry). A good lick of attractive confectionary-like aromas as well. Plenty of tight, zingy and intense acidic fruits; almost citrus like. Really quite a serious style that will age very well.

Pours no head over an interesting pulpy grapefruit-colored body. Lacing is loose and oily. Nose is sweet and sour with vinous fruits and dry yeast. Subtle raspberries, barnyard funk, sharp acid all around. Huge eye-twitching sour bite in the finish. High carbonation and medium/full body. Sweet and sour are almost perfectly balanced with the sour coming out on top. Tastes better with every sip. The best framboise I’ve had so far. Cantillon doesn’t fail to please.
