FatPhil (3446), Espoo, Finland Sep 30, 2007 Very red, almost cartoony. Dry fruit and fruit skin aroma, raspberry detectable. Taste is less lambic-like than most Cantillons, and much more sweet. Hints of raspberry and other dark berries. Leaves the mouth dry and sticky, not unpleasantly so. Mangino (1027), Mississippi, USA Sep 26, 2007 Bottle at Palm Tavern- Red color, small white head. Aroma is pleasent, raspberries a bit of barnyard though not overwhelming, and hiding its true self. Drinking this is truly sour and beautiful, very nice. thomat (666), Göteborg, Sweden Sep 23, 2007 Hazy pale red with a small pink head. Fruity and sour notes. Taste is also acidic with some fruit. Medium body with a dry finish. SSSteve (2047), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Sep 21, 2007 2002. murky brown with no head. very loud, fizzy pour. strong oak, brett aroma with light raspberry. flavor is dried apricots and raspberry with plenty of sourness, acid, and brett. as usual, too sour for me. JB175 (1654), Bucks County, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 20, 2007 Draft at monks. Reddish color with a light pink head. Aroma dominated by acidic raspberries with some light sourness. Flavor is dominated by raspberries with a hint of lemon and funk. Not bad, but for Cantillon this is pretty disappointing. Maybe some time on a bottle of this will sour it up. downender (2537), Bristol, Gloucestershire, England Sep 15, 2007 Bottle from the brewery. Subtle pink colour with a moderate, rose-tinted head. Aroma was of yeast, the farmyard and a hint of raspberries. The mouth feel was puckering, with plenty of acidity. Flavours of red soft fruit with a very dry finish. Very enjoyable. weeare138 (933), Collegeville, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 10, 2007 Appears a pinkish, rose colored amber with a small white head that quickly fizzles out into nothing. Pockets of chunky CO2 slowly rise to the top.
Smell is of wild yeast, tart raspberries, barnyard funk, oaky, and musty earth.
Taste is of sweet tarts with the mentioned aromas leading to a mouth puckering goodness up front. Taste is slightly vinous with a touch of vinegar coming through
Mouthfeel is medium bodied, sweet, acidic, tart, oaky, and dry. RblWthACoz (963), Brooklyn, New York, USA Sep 8, 2007 This was my first dance with a real lambic. Well I mean a traditional styled one. (What’s "real"? Right, Neo?) Keeping that in mind, I want to review it based on what it should be and not based solely on my tastes alone. The first thing I thought was of course: "sour". The color is a dull reddish/pink and I never felt like the raspberries came out super strong. There was an underlying tone, but nothing harsh or overdone by any means. The style is interesting and I definitely want to try more, I just think my immature palate has some growing up to do.
