Commercial Description:
"It has the colour of onion skin", said a voice behind me. It was Raymond Coumans. He was admiring the colour of the raspberry lambic reflecting in the red copper of the buckets used to empty the barrels. At that time (1986), "Raspberry-Lambic" already was synonymous with a sweet, artificially flavoured beer. This is why we decided to distinguish our beer from the other raspberry beers. Raymond proposed to call it a rosé, dedicated not to Bacchus but to Gambrinus.

The process to make this beer is identical to the one to make Kriek. When young, the Rosé de Gambrinus will still present its full fruity taste. Later on, the lambic taste will become dominant at the expense of the fruit taste.

Very lovely aroma with a whiff of raspberries. Red-orange-pink body with a large spritzy head that collapses to a thin layer. Very soft two year old lambic shows some lactic acidity, just a hint of raspberry fruitiness, and tartness in the finish. Very spritzy, lively. A real treat, how can anyone give a fair number to this?

Sampled at the brewery in Brussels - liked this more than the gueuze. While stille being extremely sour, the raspberries gave it a little more depth and flavor. Wish it had a tad more berry flavor though . . . I can’t help but laugh when they tell you "you probably won’t like it because Coca-cola has ruined the world’s palate and everyone likes nothing but sweet sweet sweet - get ready for sour".

Poured a hazy reddish pink with a thin white head. The aroma is very sour/tart, of course some raspberry, crisp, and acidic. The flavor is sour, tart, acidic, and raspberry hints. The palate was very crisp and acidic.

The color was pink/orange, bubbly and crisp. The head was thin and pink. The aroma was similar to that of a flemish sour ale. It was very tart/sour and smelled of fermented grapes. The palate was thin/medium bodied. The finish was sour/tart.

2002 750 ml bottle shared with willblake and Disckinsonbeer. Poured a hazy coppery/orange with some light pink tones and a quickly fading head. Aroma is tart with lots of sour fruit shining through, even thought this is raspberry based I was getting strong cherry notes. Flavor was beyond tart, probably one of the sourest beers I have ever had. If you don’t like sour then run far far away from this sour bomb.

Pours a light copper with a pinkish almost violet hug, fizzy carbonation and a short lived head. Aroma is Tart and pungent with tons of fruit character from even a couple feet away. Tart- acidic, raspberry and sour as hell cherries. Acidic sharp flavor, tart cherries, raspberries, lactic, funky, a bit doughy, sweetness lasts for a second until it hits the bakc of the throat then the sour puckering effect takes place. Damn acidi and sour- but so damn good. I love this beer. Bottle- 2002.

Bottle sampled. Pours red/pink with a pink head. Aroma of fermented raspberries, the nose was scarring me, as i am just starting to find myself adjusted to lambic’s, the nose is overwhelmingly sour. The taste is fruity, and just to sour for me.
