Commercial Description:
"It has the colour of onion skin", said a voice behind me. It was Raymond Coumans. He was admiring the colour of the raspberry lambic reflecting in the red copper of the buckets used to empty the barrels. At that time (1986), "Raspberry-Lambic" already was synonymous with a sweet, artificially flavoured beer. This is why we decided to distinguish our beer from the other raspberry beers. Raymond proposed to call it a rosé, dedicated not to Bacchus but to Gambrinus.

The process to make this beer is identical to the one to make Kriek. When young, the Rosé de Gambrinus will still present its full fruity taste. Later on, the lambic taste will become dominant at the expense of the fruit taste.

Pours like a deep straw colored juice - absolutely no head at all. Has an aroma of vinegar, cherries, and rasberries with a hint of citrus and caramel. Extremely tart flavor with hardly any fruit taste, it’s all covered up by the harsh acidic profile. There is a hint of rasberries, but it’s way too sour for my taste. It’s initially slightly sweet and intensly sour, and finishes pretty dry with an earthy quality. You would need a very sweet dessert to go with this beer.

Hazy red colour, light pink head. Aroma of tart raspberries. Shockingly sour, but refreshing. Would be fabulous with a sickeningly sweet dessert. Cleanses the palate, like steel wool.

Hazy red color with a small creamy light red head that mostly diminishes. Aroma of raspberries and clear sour. Very sour flavor with some light raspberries.

On tap at Hopleaf. Poured a rich rosy/orange with a short-lived head. Nose was of overripe raspberries with underlying cellary-yeast. Raspberries really dominate. Tartness and acidity are pervasive in the flavor, but in a good way. Ripe rapsberries at the forefront again, with some funky yeast and other fresh fruit behind it. Tartness was a bit too hot on the palate, but it still managed to be enjoyable. Dry and refreshing finish.

Robe rosacée aux reflets blonds surmontée d’une mince mousse rose. Arômes acidulés de fruits. Saveurs acidulées de fruits, d’épices, de liège et de bois.

Thanks to Beer Hawk for sharing this one! Orange with a pink blush to it. Fleeting white head. Powerfully tart, sharp, raspberry aroma. Tartness overpowers this one for me, There is some fruit in here if the tartness would just let up a bit to let you enjoy it. Truly for the Lambic lover.
