damienv10 (108), Chicago, Illinois, USA Dec 21, 2005 Pours orange/red tawny in color with only a tiny bit of foam rimming the glass. The nose in an intersting mix of barnyard and swee and tart rasberry. I do enjoy barnyard in many wines and some beers, but here it takes away from the lambic IMO. Very sour on the palate with rasberry overtones. Maybe a little lemony as well. Strong acidity, light carbonation. BuckNaked (1204), Tempe, Arizona, USA Dec 11, 2005 Bottle thanks to Clarkvv: Pours to an opaque pink-orange body that glows various shades of pink when held to the light. Has a tiny white head, though it’s minimal at best. Aroma is hay, light barnyard, horseblanket, lightly tart raspberry, plenty of tartness with a hint of some old wood. Taste is very tart initially, giving notes of fruit and light citrus. Then notes of wood, aged barrels, faint raspberries, barnyard, musty lambic, sharp acidity, hints of yeast throughout. Sweet raspberries show themselves if air is sucked through the full mouth. Light-medium bodied, light carbonation, full sour palate. Finishes moderately dry with notes of light raspberries and wood. Lubiere (4463), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Dec 11, 2005 Rosé orange lambic with a thin white head. Fresh cherries in aroma with notes of horseblanket, barnyard. Sour cherries in mouth with lactic acid notes, very restrained and pleasant, an excellent balance. Medium bodied. Sampled at Quintessence Cantillon 2005. Lou18 (1353), West Paterson, New Jersey, USA Dec 9, 2005 Updated: May 19, 2006 oh boy. I don’t get these sour brews, but I will keep trying. Indra (2023), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA Nov 30, 2005 750 ml bottle, cellar-aged for 1 year, obtained at the brewery in Brussels in fall of 2004. Intriguing aroma of hay, straw, leaves and faint raspberry, plentiful tartness alongside lemony citrus and notes of fresh wood. Hazy, rusty orange-amber color, yielding a fine, slight but ever-present head and a light coat of lace. Fruity and citric flavor to start, turning a little towards the sweet side and seeing subtle yet insistent hints of raspberry emerge alongside suggestions of old, dry leaves and sharp, citric acidity. Intensely and wonderfully sour palate with a light, refreshing body and fine effervescence. Highly enjoyable and a true artisanal fruit lambic. puzzl (2579), New York, New York, USA Nov 23, 2005 Yikes! My first real lambic (had only had Lindemans and other sweetened lambics before). So overwhelmingly sour! Much more so that even Rodenbach Grand Cru and other flemish sours I’ve had. The raspberry was there but it was very difficult to pick up on... just every once in a while you’d get a quick taste of it. Aroma was nice and rich but was a little funky and didn’t feature raspberries as prominantly as I’d like (in fact, hardly at all). Still, a great beer. yngwie (4880), Kristiansand, Norway Nov 13, 2005 Updated: Jan 11, 2009Bottled. Reddish clear with no head. Sour, mouldy aroma. Sweet and sour flavor with fruityness in the back. Crisp and dry finish. Rating: 6-3-5-3-15-3.2. (051028)
Bottle, 37.5cl. 2005 vintage. It pours a semi-clear orange-golden body, topped by a cute, white head with some pinkish notes. Sediments in the bottle. It’s horsey and barnyardish on the nose, with a cheese-like touch and some berries in the back. Some lemon-like and slightly mould scents too. Tart and puckering in the mouth, with a fine citric touch. Medium body, maybe a bit watery. Cheese notes, horseblanket, super-sour berries, lemon juice and a touch of old, soaked wood in the flavor. Lasting astringent, lemony finish with a distinct flavor of berries. A nice teeth-cleansing beer bearing the age well. Yummy. (090111) brentfeesh (1030), Gadsden, Alabama, USA Nov 1, 2005 I really tried with this beer. I consumed it over the course of an entire evening with minimal help from my wife (who made me buy this in the first place). Pours a bit hazy. Color of a blood orange with a light white, and quickly dissipating head. The aroma is funky. Sour aromas (sour fruit) and hints of salty barn yard or leather. Interesting. The flavor is sour! Not overwhelmingly so but strong and mouth watering. There is fruit but raspberry is by no means assertive. It’s more of a citrus presence of under-ripe fruit. Some musty/saltiness, sourdough bread. I’m sure this is some people thing, but not mine. Has a carbonated light-medium body. Semi-dry.
