Commercial Description:
"It has the colour of onion skin", said a voice behind me. It was Raymond Coumans. He was admiring the colour of the raspberry lambic reflecting in the red copper of the buckets used to empty the barrels. At that time (1986), "Raspberry-Lambic" already was synonymous with a sweet, artificially flavoured beer. This is why we decided to distinguish our beer from the other raspberry beers. Raymond proposed to call it a rosé, dedicated not to Bacchus but to Gambrinus.

The process to make this beer is identical to the one to make Kriek. When young, the Rosé de Gambrinus will still present its full fruity taste. Later on, the lambic taste will become dominant at the expense of the fruit taste.

375 ml bottle - from the brewery. Golden rose color and clear with a fizzy, whitish pink head that diminished to a thin ring and skin of bubbles. Sour fruit aroma, horse blanket, wet wool and a hint of flowers. Tart, bitter, dry flavor, unripe raspberries, pink champagne, a little funk and floral notes. Light body and fine carbonation. Quite nice!

2003: Of all the stuff that we tried with mjames and lilannie I could have stopped after this one. My first from this brewery was the jackpot. Unrelenting sour fruit, grapefruit, hint of pickle, all with a terrific barnyard aroma.....left me at a loss for words.

Bottle at Pub Italia, shared with PintByPint. Cloudy rose tinted golden colour. Fruity sour scent. Sour, puckery taste, very acidic. I found this to be more acidic then their Gueuze. Enjoy the taste, but the acidicness didn’t sit well.

Golden rose colour with a thin but nice head. Strong sour scent of fruts and flowers. Puckery sour like ’sour worms’ not much traditional beer taste.

Bottled in 2004. This golden/orange lambic poured with a very thin white head, eliciting a strong fruity aroma. The flavor is very tart with a long dry finish. This one was considerably more sour than the other versions of framboise I have tried.

375ml green corked bottle, Pub Italia, Ottawa, shared with PandoraGreen. Golden colour, no head. Cherries in aroma. Tartness wasn’t too bad, acidic but not as strong as Cantillon gueuze. Delicate raspberry flavour, also weird sweaty note.

Bottled in 2003: Really nice light amber haze with no head on it. Aroma is musky, semi-sweet and very organic, flowers and freshly turned earth. Flavor is very tart. It really stongs the tip of my tongue right off, but after more drinks there is a raspberry-ish tart to it. This ends a bit too dry to really get me sold on it, but it is a fine treat regardless.
