"It has the colour of onion skin", said a voice behind me. It was Raymond Coumans. He was admiring the colour of the raspberry lambic reflecting in the red copper of the buckets used to empty the barrels. At that time (1986), "Raspberry-Lambic" already was synonymous with a sweet, artificially flavoured beer. This is why we decided to distinguish our beer from the other raspberry beers. Raymond proposed to call it a rosé, dedicated not to Bacchus but to Gambrinus.

The process to make this beer is identical to the one to make Kriek. When young, the Rosé de Gambrinus will still present its full fruity taste. Later on, the lambic taste will become dominant at the expense of the fruit taste.

The beer pours a ruby red with lite pink head. The nose is a little barn yard, raspberries. The flavor is classic lambic. Quite tart at first with a touch of mineral, followed by sweet raspberries and finishes with a sweet-tart raspberry. Very enjoyable. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

2013 Vintage. Pours a vibrant light red colour with pink head that leaves a thin ring of lace after 17 seconds. Lots of barnyard and raspberries on the nose with some lactic notes. Quite tart on the palate. The raspberries seem to dominate a little more on the palate but there’s a lot of funkiness behind it. Finishes extremely dry.

Drank it 2 years after being bottled. dark orange-red, large bubbles disappearing quickly, complex aromas of yeast, raspberries and cheese. Medium sourness with long and pleasant yeasty and fruity finish. Nice balance between the fruit and the yeast. Good drinkability.

Hazy deep pink body, thin light pink head. Aroma of lemon juice, earth, cheese and raspberry. Taste of raspberry, lemon juice, grapefeuit juice and earth. Peretty sour but it’s also bitter at the same time. Nice lambic.

Looks like Kool-aid but in a much fancier bottle, with fine art on the label. The sniff is very sour yeast bomb. That’s what I get from most lambics though. I like this one. If you like eating grapefruits then I think you’d enjoy it. Very tart bitter fruit all the way through. Grapefruit, raspberry, leafy green flavors. Dry champagnelike finish. Not for newbs! Thanks LagziLajcsi!

Bottle side by side with Kriek at Brasserie Cambrinus in Beuges. Pours bright pinkish red with a very small pink head that recedes quickly. Plenty of dry tartness on the aroma with light raspberries supplementing lots of funky acidic Gueuze notes. Flavor follows very tart and funky--much more so than Kriek--with a beautiful supplement of lightly sweet and tart raspberries that don’t overwhelm. Light bodied, very dry and crisp, plus carbonation. This is exactly how a raspberry lambic should be.

75cl bottle from 2010. Dark red with airy a lightpink head. Aromatic wood and berries. Slight strawberry hints. Sticky to the palate, glass border and mouth! Strawberry taste perfectly complementing the scent, citric acid sticks to the teeth and full palate of soury fruits like rasp, apricot, forest fruit. Strawberry fraise frenzy all the way. Especially in the last residue pour that exhibits the latter in a fuller extent.

UPDATED: AUG 31, 2014 Pours a clear rose colour with some great carbonation. Aroma is floral, fruity, raspberries, grassy and sour. Taste is a lovely gentle balance of the sourness and some sweet raspberry flavour. Leaves the sensation as if raspberries are on your tongue, gentle sour, sweet and bitter balance, gets more interesting each sip. Goes down smooth, slightly warm, medium bodied.

Bottle @ Belgobaren 20140823. Hazy brownish pink, head diminishes very fast. Aroma of raspberries and cherries, some minor funk. Taste is similar with LOTS of citric and lactic acid. Very very sour and dry.

bottled 9/11/2013 bottle opened 21/08/14 Red/pink pour with fast vanishing white pink head. Aroma is strong strong funk (almost unpleasant), sour, berries. Taste is less funk with more raspberry character and berries sweetness, taste is not as complex as other cantillon crafts. Mouthfeel is nice with a bubbly texture. Sour is strong but maybe it will ease with time.
