Commercial Description:
"It has the colour of onion skin", said a voice behind me. It was Raymond Coumans. He was admiring the colour of the raspberry lambic reflecting in the red copper of the buckets used to empty the barrels. At that time (1986), "Raspberry-Lambic" already was synonymous with a sweet, artificially flavoured beer. This is why we decided to distinguish our beer from the other raspberry beers. Raymond proposed to call it a rosé, dedicated not to Bacchus but to Gambrinus.

The process to make this beer is identical to the one to make Kriek. When young, the Rosé de Gambrinus will still present its full fruity taste. Later on, the lambic taste will become dominant at the expense of the fruit taste.

The aroma is very special a little metallic and sour and like a dunghill - attracting and repulsive at the same time - very interesting. It is clear red with a head the starts big but vanishes extremely fast. The flavor is flat, rather acidic and yet sweet - it lingers on the palate and lips. The nicely sour - without being too sour. It only has hints of metal in the flavor. It is very hard to tell, that it is a Framboise.

(Bottle 75 cl) Pretty pink colour and pink head. Sour nose with only a vague memory of raspberries. Sour, vinegary flavour that completely overpowers the berries - what a shame. Acid all the way through. This is a typical Cantillon tastebud killer - mainly a beer for the masochistic beer drinkers. 160598

Very authentic lambic, which means really sour. Cocktail berry red. Not much raspberry flavour at all, just a slight hint. It’s good, but just too sour for me to fully enjoy, as I react physically to the sourness - my cheeks contract, and my throat and stomach burns.

37.5 cL bottle at Ølbaren. Pours hazy red with a creamy off-white head. Aroma raspberry fruity and dry. Flavour is dry raspberry fruity with a light dry wooden note. Dry acidic to citric finish. Classic Cantillon dryness yet delicate fruity touch all the way through.

Bottle 75cl @ Home. [ Vintage 2005 ]. Clear medium orange red color with a average to large, frothy, good lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is tart, sour, raspberry, sulphurous. Flavor is moderate sweet, moderate to heavy acidic and moderate bitter with a long duration, and a dry and tart finish. Body is light to medium, texture is watery, carbonation is lively to soft. Very nice ;o)) (150708)

Bottled. Very reddish colour with some amber hints, almost no head. While pouring sweet strawberry/raspberry mixed aroma, with the Cantillonish-bitter-sour notes coming after it is in the glass. Strong Cantillonish lambicflavour. Aftertaste has some weak fruity and berryish hints, but as usual the sourness/bitterness covers it up pretty much. Some wineish hints also.
