Commercial Description:
"It has the colour of onion skin", said a voice behind me. It was Raymond Coumans. He was admiring the colour of the raspberry lambic reflecting in the red copper of the buckets used to empty the barrels. At that time (1986), "Raspberry-Lambic" already was synonymous with a sweet, artificially flavoured beer. This is why we decided to distinguish our beer from the other raspberry beers. Raymond proposed to call it a rosé, dedicated not to Bacchus but to Gambrinus.

The process to make this beer is identical to the one to make Kriek. When young, the Rosé de Gambrinus will still present its full fruity taste. Later on, the lambic taste will become dominant at the expense of the fruit taste.

2002 vintage: Beautiful pour into my flute, color is reddish brown, clear, with an intially big, frothy off white head that dissipates completely. This beer is highly carbonated as in sparkling wine. Aroma is intriguing and appealing. Light aroma of raspberry, with light tart, and definite mustiness, like walking into a room that has been closed up for years. Flavor is initally very sour with a little fruitiness, but not much. There is some definite funkiness in the finish. Very drinkable and refreshing. I would love to drink this again sometime.

A great framboise-style lambic...strong raspberry flavor initially with a sour finish, but not overwhelmingly so. Smooth.

I am waiting to receive my own bottle but while I was waiting I was lucky to have some at Beer Bistro with by beer friends. It poured lovely red hue, rich with good depth. Sour, but very clean aroma, some sweet candy. Lambic with touch of fun, light (easy), refreshing drink. Nice, refreshing happy fruit brew.

2001 750ML bottle drank in 2002: Pours with a huge, quickly diminishing head, on an orangy-pink body. Barnyard-acidic aroma. Huge sour acidic taste with only a hint of fruit. Ends sour and dry. Not bad, but at almost $14 a bottle, I’m not sure when I’m going to buy it again.

manure and diapers in the aroma.pinkish color and a fizzy head. probably the sourest lambic I’ve had - even more so than Cantillon’s geuze. quite tast ydespite the tartness , the fruit elements are slight but add to the taste.

bubbly lambic with small white head and pink body. slight fruity taste but mostly sour as the lambic flavor dominates over the fruit infussion. enjoyed with romantic dinner.

Another belter in my emerging taste for lambics. Just the right amount of tartiness, dry finish but really refreshing and moreish. A kind present from our kid. Good job I didn’t drink it at the time as I got pulled on the way home. Very nice and different for me.

Orange pink pour with a little white head. Very strong funky aroma typical of lambics - vinegar, acid, etc. Lots of raspberry on top of that. Very, very sour. I like sour beers a lot, but I thought this was a bit too much. Still good though. Just the right amount of raspberry.
