"It has the colour of onion skin", said a voice behind me. It was Raymond Coumans. He was admiring the colour of the raspberry lambic reflecting in the red copper of the buckets used to empty the barrels. At that time (1986), "Raspberry-Lambic" already was synonymous with a sweet, artificially flavoured beer. This is why we decided to distinguish our beer from the other raspberry beers. Raymond proposed to call it a rosť, dedicated not to Bacchus but to Gambrinus.

The process to make this beer is identical to the one to make Kriek. When young, the Rosť de Gambrinus will still present its full fruity taste. Later on, the lambic taste will become dominant at the expense of the fruit taste.

Pours a light red color with a frothy pink head - very feminine looking (Iím okay with that.) Smells... not as fruity as imagined, more like a gueze I think. Itís definitely got the sour, wet hay smell, and the raspberries are there - just subtle. Taste is definitely more raspberry. Itís got a huge sour punch that hits you right in the middle of the tongue. I really like this a lot, probably one of my favorite lambics (though I probably say that more often than I think, ha!)

Bottle share thanks to buckeyeboy. Bright red with thin head. Nice and tart, so glad I had this one.

Thanks buckeye boy for this. Pours a rosy red color with a thin white disappearing head. Maybe the prettiest pour Iíve ever seen. Smells of tart cherries and tastes the same. Nice tartness and funk.

bottle @Fairbar.. delicious beer... The beer has a nice red colour and looks very good in the glass. The beer is quite still. The taste is fruity, but with no sweetness it is all sour! :)

Tap. Pours deep pink with a small head. Aroma of rasberry, yeast and sour berries. Sweet flavor that ends up dry and tart. Medium bodied, watery to oily texture, and average carb. An excellent Sour.

375ml bottle, 27 May 2013 bottling. Clear reddish amber colour, foam pinkish white head and complex aroma of tart citrus, honey, raspberry, wood, barnyard. Taste is fruity raspberry with some spice, funk and a sour lemon grapefruit edge. Oily mouthfeel, medium bodied, soft to medium carbonation, lingering sour citric woody yeasty finish. Lovely stuff, very drinkable.

On tap at Hops & Pie. Sweet raspberry nose. Slightly funky, smooth, with a bit of wheatiness on the back end. Not quite as tart as I expected. Fruity without the sweetness.

At the Brewery. Clean pinkish colour, well it is a Rosť. Dry fruity aroma. Flavour starts fruity berry, but is soon taken over by the dry bitterness of the Lambic. Again a very dry finish. Enjoyed this more than I thought I would.

Does not look like a beer at all, more like a juice drink with a similar amount of foam. A bit hazy. Aroma is sour, wine-like as a lambic should have. A bit sticky. From the look I would expect a fruity and sweet taste - but its not there. It is a dry lambic where you have citric acid of geuze married with rotten apple bitterness. Aftertaste has a lot of raspberry and dry apple cider. Raspberry seed aftertaste. Nice and refreshing drink you can easily have instead of champagne.

Had this some times before, but never neere as good as this one. Even better then lou pepe framboise from last year. Colour is pinky. Sexy. Medium pink lacings. Aroma is intense framboise. Taste is sour, tart. Intense framboise. Tastes maybe more framboise then if you eat them yourself. Batch 20 november 2013 bravo!
