COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
"It has the colour of onion skin", said a voice behind me. It was Raymond Coumans. He was admiring the colour of the raspberry lambic reflecting in the red copper of the buckets used to empty the barrels. At that time (1986), "Raspberry-Lambic" already was synonymous with a sweet, artificially flavoured beer. This is why we decided to distinguish our beer from the other raspberry beers. Raymond proposed to call it a rosé, dedicated not to Bacchus but to Gambrinus.

The process to make this beer is identical to the one to make Kriek. When young, the Rosé de Gambrinus will still present its full fruity taste. Later on, the lambic taste will become dominant at the expense of the fruit taste.

Pours a light red color with a frothy pink head - very feminine looking (I’m okay with that.) Smells... not as fruity as imagined, more like a gueze I think. It’s definitely got the sour, wet hay smell, and the raspberries are there - just subtle. Taste is definitely more raspberry. It’s got a huge sour punch that hits you right in the middle of the tongue. I really like this a lot, probably one of my favorite lambics (though I probably say that more often than I think, ha!)

2014 750ml bottle. Sour, tart raspberry funk. Still juicy and balanced. The extra year if anything has made this even better. Still well-balanced. Cantillon just does it better than most everyyone else. Could drink this every day. Super underrated.

Bottle bought direct from the brewery in JAN/2016, it was dated within 6 months of drinking. I’ve tried this beer many times and it is best when fresh, it will lose the taste of raspberry rapidly after a year of ageing although it tends to keep its aroma. APPEARANCE: Large pink head, lively carbonation much like a Gueuze, deep raspberry colour. TASTE: If had fresh it tastes of very fresh raspberry Lambic. Very upfront, no messing about. Slight oak notes. PALATE: It is sour, slightly bitter, puckering, highly refreshing, moreish, elegant and highly sophisticated. OVERALL: If has fresh this is in the top 5 wild beers out there for me. A real world class incredible beer which wows anyone with a decent palate.

This is probably what this style should taste like, not as sweet as the Lindeman’s one that’s more widely distributed. Solid.

Funky and fruity. Nicely funky with hints of fruit on the nose. Tastes of bitter raspberry, of untie raspberries with great acidity and a soft texture. Beautiful.

Bouteille 500 ml. Couleur rose assez foncée, mousse rose pâle. Arôme de fruits sucrés qui migre vers les levures sauvages. En bouche, acudulée, fraîche, fruitée, sauvage et barriquée. Excellente.

Hazy red pink-ish. Fizzy, quickly vanishing head. Good raspberry aroma. Sour raspberry flavour, dry and tart with good acetic bite. Long, funky finish.
