"It has the colour of onion skin", said a voice behind me. It was Raymond Coumans. He was admiring the colour of the raspberry lambic reflecting in the red copper of the buckets used to empty the barrels. At that time (1986), "Raspberry-Lambic" already was synonymous with a sweet, artificially flavoured beer. This is why we decided to distinguish our beer from the other raspberry beers. Raymond proposed to call it a rosé, dedicated not to Bacchus but to Gambrinus.

The process to make this beer is identical to the one to make Kriek. When young, the Rosé de Gambrinus will still present its full fruity taste. Later on, the lambic taste will become dominant at the expense of the fruit taste.

Bottle 375ml. Aged 18 months piror to tasting. Poured hazy bloody pink with an averaged sized, pink, frothy head which was mostly diminishing. Aroma was of acidic fruit with strong notes of musty wild yeast, sea water, cranberry juice, sour raspberries and fresh lemon juice. A very strong acidity in the flavor with sour yeasty notes, tart acidic fruit, sour cherries, fresh lemon juice, unripe cranberries, salty/brine-like notes and light notes of white-whine vinegar. Medium bodied with medium carbonation, a dry/tart mouthfeel, slightly syrupy texture and a long length finish.

Light pink and short head. Nice raspberry flavors. Ruby opaque colored body. Taste is sweet, sour, bitter and shows raspberry. 2013 batch drunk in 2014 was too early. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from Ølbutikken. First Sour Ale for me, thus making this the review of a debutant. Pours almost blood red with a small light pink head. Nose is funky and fruity but not really distinct. Taste is full of red berries and with a subtle sweetness to numb the immediate sourness. I find that the beer was more complex and balanced (and less fermented vinegar) as the temperature rose. - with thirst, Niklas

pink-reddish color, with a big, fast vanishing pink head. Typical Cantillon aromas, very funky, refreshing and full with raspberries. Very sour, fruity, raspberry gets more and more recognizable after the first impression. Hints of yeast go well with the fruit and dry sourness. Raspberry is present from the beginning till the end in a very pleasant, intense way. Refreshing, dry mouthfeel, with a tart, acidic character. Fruit stays on the palate for a long time. Very unique fruity taste in a pleasantly balanced beer.

Thanks buckeye boy for this. Pours a rosy red color with a thin white disappearing head. Maybe the prettiest pour I’ve ever seen. Smells of tart cherries and tastes the same. Nice tartness and funk.

bottle @Fairbar.. delicious beer... The beer has a nice red colour and looks very good in the glass. The beer is quite still. The taste is fruity, but with no sweetness it is all sour! :)

On tap at Hops & Pie. Sweet raspberry nose. Slightly funky, smooth, with a bit of wheatiness on the back end. Not quite as tart as I expected. Fruity without the sweetness.
