COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
"It has the colour of onion skin", said a voice behind me. It was Raymond Coumans. He was admiring the colour of the raspberry lambic reflecting in the red copper of the buckets used to empty the barrels. At that time (1986), "Raspberry-Lambic" already was synonymous with a sweet, artificially flavoured beer. This is why we decided to distinguish our beer from the other raspberry beers. Raymond proposed to call it a rosé, dedicated not to Bacchus but to Gambrinus.

The process to make this beer is identical to the one to make Kriek. When young, the Rosé de Gambrinus will still present its full fruity taste. Later on, the lambic taste will become dominant at the expense of the fruit taste.

On tap at Cafe Sara. Misty pinkish red golden body with a pink head. Inviting red berries and a hint of marzipan on the nose. Sour grapefruit, raspberies and cherries in the mouth. Refreshing and pleasant. Medium bodied and smooth to drink although it grows a bit in the mouth. The red berries linger. I like and love to think of my bottle stored at home.

@Borefts 2014, rood krieken met fruitig aroma, zuurtje, smaken zijn die van een matig fruitzuur maar wel met goede fruittonen van de krieken. niet zo zoet wat zwakjes, mooie zuurcomplexiteit. beats a radler !

From notes. On tap at Mikkeller Bar SF for Zwanze Day. Surprised to see I have never rated this. Aroma is fairly fruity with a fairly large, fresh raspberry character. Some light citrus acidity and light barnyard and earthy funkiness. Pours a cloudy pinkish red with a thick, small, soft pink head that displays good retention. Low lacing and no legs. Flavor is moderately acidic with a light citrus note. Moderate raspberry character, but not as jammy a sin the aroma. Medium earthy funkiness in the finish with some light barnyard funk. Funkiness is more prevalent than in the aroma. Hints of oak. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium, soft carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a nice, fruity raspberry sour with a lot more complexity than its American counterparts. The herbal, earthy undertones add a nice complexity. Great young, great but in a different way with age.

Really nice brew, the fruit and dried fruit was great, The yeasty funk started to pop through. I have a few bottles saved and will love to try it as the funk comes through more over time

Draft at Zwanze Day 2014. Birch bar, norfolk VA. Pours a hazy light brown rose color with a fizzy off white pinkish head. Sweet aroma, mildly tart, dry, raspberry, oak. Intensely sour flavor, raspberry, cherries. Oily palate with a delicious long lingering sour character. Fantastic sour.

Flaske, 375 ml.

Great sour raspberry smell and taste to it. The raspberry isn’t as pronounced as it is with the Lou Pepe Framboise, but it’s still very good.
