COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
"It has the colour of onion skin", said a voice behind me. It was Raymond Coumans. He was admiring the colour of the raspberry lambic reflecting in the red copper of the buckets used to empty the barrels. At that time (1986), "Raspberry-Lambic" already was synonymous with a sweet, artificially flavoured beer. This is why we decided to distinguish our beer from the other raspberry beers. Raymond proposed to call it a rosé, dedicated not to Bacchus but to Gambrinus.

The process to make this beer is identical to the one to make Kriek. When young, the Rosé de Gambrinus will still present its full fruity taste. Later on, the lambic taste will become dominant at the expense of the fruit taste.

Enjoyed from a 750ml bottle in a whiskey snifter. The beer pours a lightish pink hue, with a low head. The aroma shows a fair amount of funk; Brettanomyces, tartness, a melange of unnamable other notes, and underlying fruit notes. The palate is as complex as a beverage or food can aspire to be; revealing the work of the wild yeast, the natural yeast on the fruit, and the residual flavor of the fruit itself. Mouthfeel is bone-dry, without seeming the slightest bit insipid. Overall, consuming the beer gives one the feeling that he is consuming history; akin to touring the Louvre or walking the ancient streets of Rome. Breathtaking.

Bottled dec '11. Had may '12. Still rather fruity with a huge aroma of mostly funk. Raspberry comes through though in the taste where it is still big. I'll have another. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

10-MAY-2012, bottle @DŘE Řlfestival 2012. Clear red with a pink rim. Raspberries on the nose with a little tartness. Taste is pure raspberry. Very very fruity. A bit on the simple side. Not overly brett’y. Mostly just raspberry juicy tartness.

375 ml bottle. 2010 vintage. Clear, red liquid with pink hue and small to medium, fast dissipating pink head. Aroma of raspberries, apples, barnyard/funk, creamy lacto and sweet red berries (other than raspberries). Some sweat as well. Really nice! Taste is dry, medium tart and sour with no bitterness and notes of fresh raspberries. Medium bodied with nice, sparkly carbonation. Very well balanced with lots of raspberry flavour.

Acquired in a trade by a very generous guy. Dated April 18th, 2011. Poured into a Hill Farmstead Glass at Cellar Temp (55 Degrees F)

A - Poured a absolutely gorgeous ruby red color. Almost pink but with a hint of rose coloring. 3-Finger creamy colored head that quickly subsided to a tiny film of head.

S - Delicious raspberry scent on the nose followed by that terrific Gueuze scent of sour and tart. a bit of oak as well.

T - Gigantic sour raspberry, milds bits of floury rose petal taste and pollen. Grape seeds and champagne

M - 100% carbonation on mouth swish, light bodied, incredibly dry finish.

O - Wow. Another terrific Cantillon. too bad it’s in the 12 ounce format. Wishing I had a larger bottle so I could drink this all day

Rose to amber coloured, bottle bought a few months ago at Lekkerbier. No head, fruity aroma, raspberries indeed, also a bit sourish and sweets. Fruity sourishness in the taste, with a sourich aftretaste, nice beer.

Extremely complex, yet recognizable aroma, which tends to resemble that of REAL fresh fruit juice. Tends to surprise me with the (light) sourness it posesses. This is one beer one will not forget. Could imagine some tastebuds would scream umami, so whenever you have the chance; dive in and have a blast!

37,5cl bottle shared with Dutchdrebus and Ansjelaah @ Queens Day Tasting ’12. Hazy, murky red color, small off-white, mostly diminishing head that leaves fair lacing. Smells lightly sour, lightly yeast and red fruits. Taste light to moderately acidic, red fruits, raspberry, strawberry. Medium body, pretty dry finish, nicely balanced, medium to lively carbonation.
