COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
"It has the colour of onion skin", said a voice behind me. It was Raymond Coumans. He was admiring the colour of the raspberry lambic reflecting in the red copper of the buckets used to empty the barrels. At that time (1986), "Raspberry-Lambic" already was synonymous with a sweet, artificially flavoured beer. This is why we decided to distinguish our beer from the other raspberry beers. Raymond proposed to call it a rosé, dedicated not to Bacchus but to Gambrinus.

The process to make this beer is identical to the one to make Kriek. When young, the Rosé de Gambrinus will still present its full fruity taste. Later on, the lambic taste will become dominant at the expense of the fruit taste.

375ml bottle from Bieresgourmet

2012 vintage - Pours dark red with a small white head. Aroma of tart raspberries, some cherries, hints of sourness. Taste has notes of tart raspberries, slight sourness, hints of cherries and farmyard notes. Some sweetness as well. Finish is sourish and tart with some notes of berries. Nice, quite tasty fruit lambic.

Taste: The taste is acid, fruity, raspberries and apples, vinegar and cherry seeds.
Palate: Medium high carbonation, lively bubbles, a complex body and a very dry finish.
Overall: A quite good fruit lambic, not at all sweet or soda like.

375ml bottle. Reddish amber with a off white head and a pinkish hue. Aroma of raspberry, musty oak, vinegar and light lactic acid. Flavor is super dry and sour, tart puckering, faint berry and malt. Light body and very dry. This is a good beer but you really need to be in the right mood for it, super dry and sour.

Green-glassed bottle (750), corked and capped. Cleaning out my cellar, this one was acquired at least four years ago, probably five. But ahhh, the cork says "Botteld in 2.006" (double sic), so it’s a bit older. No gush or even release of carbonation on opening, pours sort of a deep orange with rose highlights and a lacing but very short tan head. Nose is tart with raspberry and an equal part lambic. Quite tart and puckeringly sour, and this is the kind that lasts long after the liquid hast left the throat, into the aftertaste. Medium raspberry and medium wood, a little bit of built-up slime left behind. Soft body with pleasant carbonation, raspberries have likely receded with time but there’s no doubt there still here; this is actually pretty dry on the whole, as well, though questions of sweetness don’t come to play with this level of sour. Intense lemon sourness. Love love love the wood component here, sucks me right in and will likely produce future salivation from memory. A treat!

Bottled. Pink colour with minimal and quickly diminishing off-white head. Aroma has notes of raspberries, light vinegar and sweet. Flavor is very fruity, with cherries and raspberries notes, light citrus and vinegar and veri slightly smoky notes. The final is fruity with a long duration. High and lively carbonation.
