Bottle. Hazy, orangey red with a light pinkish head that disappeared completely. Woody nose, lemony lambik in the background, just a hint of other fruit. Good lemony lambik flavours, fruit is more pronounced in the mouth and marries well with the lambik. The wood comes in especially towards the dry finish. Another great invention from Cantillon.

750ml bottle. 2006 bottle. Aroma: Very vinous with a strong dose of dry red grapes. Nice sourness with a bit of red wine vinegar. Dusty funk with some light cheese. Oak comes out more as it warms. Appearance: Pinkish-red in color and quite hazy. Light pink head was small and rocky with good retention. Fair lacing. Flavor: Very fruity with vinous grapes being the star. Nice tart sourness. Oak and funk hit me at the same time. Funk is dusty/cobweb with a fairly strong cheesiness. Dry finish. Palate: Medium bodied. Medium-high carbonation. Overall: Pricey but worth it.

A very tastfull grapebeer, made with red wine grapes (merlot and Cabernetfrancs). They added some liquer for fermatation on bottle. A scour and good tasting fruit beer

Bottle @ my brothers (Vac) & Abby’s (zug4abby) house warming party. Ok you have to ready for this one. After being in San Diego for a few days and drinking IPA’s and IIPA’s one after another followed by a few big & impy stouts, I think Abby pulled this one out just to screw with my palate. Poured a reddish brown with a thin pink head. The aroma found that lambic sour fruitiness. The flavor was tart to say the least with a fruit and light citrus blend. Medium body and tart aftertaste. Don’t be scared of the sourness. Just be ready for it. Very decent overall!

Bottle, 75cl. Opaque red/purple colour with a small pink head. Aroma of wood, raspberries, cherries, yeast and that delicious scent of lambic. Initially a fruity flavour, unripe berries and just very sour. It gets better after a few sips (when the taste buds go numb...) and release a more vinous flavour. Slightly creamy mouthfeel. Personally I would have liked a softer carbonation but this is definitely a great beer!

Hazy reddish color, short off-white head. Aroma is tart, fruity of cherries and grapes, some marzipan. Nice fruity taste, soft sweet and slight tart, some oak.

Fruity aroma of grapes, winey. Hazy, red coloured with not much head. Taste is tart, bit sweet, winey/fruity (grape), some oak/wood in it. Quite nice and refreshing after a load of imperial stout.

UPDATED: MAY 24, 2008 2004 vintage. Pours a reddish pink with minimal head and carbonation. Sour grapes on the nose... more like a wine than a beer. Same for the flavor... sour with hints of grape-y sweetness.

Re-rate 5/24/2008. Damn... was I off base in my first review. Boatlaods of grape and wood tannen all over the place with that dirty, Cantillon house funk on the tongue. Acidic, tart and wonderful all around.

Pours a glowing purple, dark pinkish color with a very thin light purple head. Lovely looking. Smells of monster sourness with a very fruity background. If I had no clue what was being poured blinfolded and smelled this beer, I’d guess Cantillon. The taste is very acidic, but not as overpowering as the aromas would suggest. Once you get past the sourness, some nice atringent fruits show up. Some grapes and lemon from the acidity are definitely present. Just another good Cantillon showing.

I hope I enjoy this $30 beer. 750mL, Botteld in 2003 on the cork. Pours a slightly hazy bright orange with some maraschino cherry colored highlights, and a small white head (tiny bubbles) that fades to a ring before long. Smells really sour and acidic. There is some woody oak, funk, faint grape juice. Flavor is indeed quite sour--lemon and unripened granny smith apple-like--with some oak and funk again, and a dry finish. Burped stale herbal hops. Light body with minimal carbonation. Very good.
