3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
2003 Vintage. Tasted September 7, 2008. Dark, murky red color with no head. Aroma of grape vines. Strong sour and tart wheat flavor. Very little grape flavor, but a lot of what I would call leafy or vine-like flavors. It seems that instead of the grapes imparting their flavors, it was aged with the vines stalks. Still good, but not the ’wow’ I was hoping for.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 19/20
Oh what a stunning beer. If I could give a perfect score for any of the categories (I am anal about that and have never done it), aroma and flavor would be 10 and 10 respectively. Aroma was perfect. Strong funk, mold and barnyard fill the nose. Smells like it’s been buried for 100 years in a dirty wet dusty blanket. Pour was a beautiful dark red/purple with no head. Taste was extremely sour and funky. Heavy sour grape with an acidic mouth puckering aftettaste. Dries the mouth and cheeks. Little carbonation that disappears mid drink. Near perfect.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Ruby red body and a whispy white head. A strong funky aroma hits right up front, kind of horsey, like a barnyard, and a nice sour fruit note comes through. The flavor is sweet and tart, plenty of delicious fruit presence, a bit of bitter funk, like cheese rind, comes through toward the finish.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Light unclear medium red color with a virtually none appearance, virtually none lancing, head. Aroma is grape sour - acidic, vinous, tart. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and acidic with a long duration, and a dry tart finish. Body is medium, texture is watery, carbonation is flat. ;o)) (250508)

750 courtesy of Josh from Vintage Estates. Pours purple/red with no head. Nose is sour grape with a citrusy hint, slight oak. Taste is an abundance of sour grapes, citrus, and lots more grape. Dry and sour. Did I mention that it’s slightly tart? Also some slight, bright cherry notes, also some slight bready yeast and sourdough undertones as it warms. Very nice beer. Tasty. Glad to have tried it. Thanks, Josh.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: AUG 3, 2008 750, cap and cork - Oct. 26, 2006 on the bottle. Pretty ugly looking beer - murky pureed berry color with an almost white, light pink head. Nose is wild and sour - bready and funky. The oak is a nice complement but I don’t get anything vinous on the nose. Mostly sour, not very subtle, but intriguing. Flavor is better - huge sour punch up front with a rounded fruit and wine middle. Soft for a split second and then pile-driving sourness. Earthy and supple finish with nice mineral qualities. Not overly pithy - it’s the kind of lambic that makes your mouth really water as you sip it. Excellent tiny bubbles and silky mouthfeel, dusty finish. Nicely done.

Champange Bottle 75 cl. Pours a red/light brown with a tiny white head.. The aroma is outstanding, rather sour but full of strawberries mingled with all kinds of berries. The taste is very sour in the beginning but is fading out to be sweet/sour like a red grapefruite with notes of almonds and you sense the oakbarrels. Compared to other Lambics this one hasn´t got that buttery (oily)sidetaste and feeling.

UPDATED: MAR 15, 2009 Draught @ Ebenezer’s. Beauitful clear red, almost no head. Aroma is slightly tart, sweetly vinous, red grapes. Hint of vinegar. Taste begins with tart vinegar, finishes with a quick snap of tartness followed by a lingering vinous red wine. Quite carbonated, with a nice light body. Fruity, beautiful.
