4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: SEP 23, 2011
2011-09-23, draught at Moeder Lambic, Fontainas, 7-3-7-4-15=36
Cloudy burgundy red color, with too much carbonation initially, but no head after a short while. Aroma of country wine (rough), some vinegar, light cheese. Dry mouthfeel, very sour, with some red wine notes that are pleasant, and some late astringency. Interesting, although not very harmonious (maybe so is the kegged version).
2004-07-03, brewed 1995, bottled 1999, 9 years old, 8-4-8-4-16=40
Hazy copper color, poor head. Being 9 years old, the fruit character is almost gone, but the Lambic core is a real one, very aggressive, citrusy, tarty, woody; nevertheless it also shows a reasonably good malty line (more than usual); very long acid final.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: MAR 18, 2010 Pink color with scant pink head. Aroma of strawberries, lemons and cherries. Full mouth. Sour and dry. Good balance and complexity.
Second rating: tap at Churchkey. Slightly less sourness, less dry, more vinous character. Still nicely complex. 4.3

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: JAN 22, 2011 Bottled at Horsens Beerfestival. Clear, red beer with a pink head. Yeast, mould, sourness and berries in the aroma. Yeasty flavor with barnyard-notes. Astringent, thin body and a stinging finish. A nice, teeth-cleansing beer, but as usual with lambics I have troubles describing it, but really love it. Rating: 8-4-7-4-15-3.8. 061028
Bottle, 375ml. A slightly hazy reddish beer with a creamy off-white head of moderate size. The aroma is unmistakable lambic but with a vinous touch without the alcohol. Lemon, funk and fruits in a lovely blend. Medium body, dry and puckering and lovely carbonated. Flavorwise it’s wonderful, sour and lemony, with unripe grapes, funky notes and cellary, barnyardish touch. More straightforward fruity than a pure lambic, yet not as fruity as a kriek or frambozen, still it’s lovely balanced. Damn, this is good, maybe it deserves a higher rating as well, but that would be unfair to some other lambics. Gimme more. 110122

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: MAR 29, 2010 Bottle at Ealing Beer Festival 2008. Thanks to Maria/Renffisch for this one. Hazy raspberry colour with thin pink head. Lambic farmyard aroma, some red wine grape. I mean I try to like Cantillon beers, but they are just too acidic, very good lemon and some red wine cherry fruit flavuor, but too acidic. Does have nice cherry aftertaste though and extraordinary farmyard/acidity. 3.3/5.0 Re-rate at the new Moeder Lambic. Hazy deep red. Very red wine grape on aroma. Lovely fruit in mouth. Lovely linger on finish, really good red wine finish. Lovely.

4.5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: APR 15, 2011 Bottle at KØ10. Good citric fruit aroma, nice earth notes as well. Cloudy deep red colour. Very small pink head. Good citric flavour, vinegary. Good fruitiness. A bit sweet for the style, making it more balanced than most Cantillon beers.

Cherry red, decent creamy mostly vanishing reddish head. Earthy farmhouse aroma with some strawberries, grape there too. Sour (of course), quite red wine -like grape flavors burst from the background. Not really so much different than their Kriek, but this one lends towards more winous flavor palette.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: OCT 5, 2014 Bottle. Pours a hazy, maroon-ruby with a fine, off-white head. Pungent, sour aroma with some ripe fruit notes. Very sour flavor rife with cherries and grapes, along with strong acidity and mild funkiness. Medium bodied with fine, massaging carbonation. Finishes with mild sweetmess and lip-puckering sourness. Very good stuff. (August 2010, Score: 4.0)
Bottle shared at Craft Beer Co. Sunday Tasting, thanks to Matt. Beautiful red-purple pour with a light, pink head. So fresh it’s scary. Grape character is there but mild. Medium sweet flavor. Mild sweat. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Crisp but mellow sour finish. Just unreal drinkable. So refreshing. (September 2012, Score: 4.4)
Bottle split with Bruce and Colin at De Heeren van Liedekercke - Denderleeuw, Belgium. Vintage 2004. Pours mostly clear red with a fine, white foam head. Great stuff. Damn sour, with lots of richly tangy berries. Light bodied with prickly average carbonation. Cleansing finish with lots of refreshing, sour berry character. Lovely. (March 2013, Score: 4.3)
