BrianK (67), New Jersey, USA Jun 9, 2008 Bottle at Spuyten Duyvil. I like this beer not for what it’s suppossed to be but for what it is. No detectably cranberry flavor but was super funky. Very drinkably for me and i enjoyed it thouroughly.
goldtwins (3721), Nesconset, New York, USA Jul 2, 2008 Thanks to JoeMcPhee @ Spuyten Duyvil. Poured a hazed deep gold with a small off-white head. The aroma had a good complexity. Earthy, fairly leathery, and fairly tart. The flavor was tart with light cranberry and light citrus lemon. Mild acidic finish. Light body and refreshing. puzzl (1715), New York, New York, USA Jun 16, 2008 Bottle at Spuyten shared by Fredandboboflo. Funky, mushy, a touch of cranberry skins only. Sourness is medium. Chewy, cheesy. Overall the cranberry was very lacking, though that is not surprising considering the tales people have told of the production of this beer. Basically comes across as a Gueuze, both in appearance and flavor. fredandboboflo (440), East Setauket, New York, USA Jun 11, 2008 Bottle at Spuyten Duyvil. Aroma at first of funk (I would say barnyard but not quite horse blanket) and sweet fruits, turning to tarter fruits, and when super (perhaps too) warm, pretty much just funktastic. Flavor a tart joy. Felt like I was slogging through the cranberry fields with young, tartly sugary cranberries coating my mouth the whole while. Despite all the tartness, doesn’t really approach vinegar, and the finish is pleasantly restrained compared to some similar Cantillon fruits. A treat. LilBeerDoctor (442), East Setauket, New York, USA Jun 11, 2008 Bottle from Spuyten Duyvil. Pours a cloudy orange with little head. Aroma of funk, tartness. Initial flavor is quite sugary and sweet (possibly the cranberries?) and becomes more vinegary and super tart as you drink. I didn’t get much cranberry in this. A little too sour and tart for my taste (even when compared to other Cantillons). Rciesla (712), Brick City, New Jersey, USA Jun 10, 2008 You’ll never guess where i had this. 102/168. Pour a yellow orange hazy body with a thin head. Aroma is funky and some cranberries but mostly funk. Sweet cranberries and funkiness in the flavor. Low acidity in the finish. A real solid sour fruit beer.
