This is a funky smelling beer. Had some nice fruit in it, apple and grapes. Tasted like a shocktart almost, it was one heck of a sour beer. Not overpowering though, I thought it was very good. minch25 (355), Columbus, Ohio, USA

Dull hazy peach orange yellow color, light white head. Rather sharp aroma; soft cheeses. Soft texture, like regular gueuze or 1900 Grand Cru. Lot of lactic acidity; dried out oak, hops. Very different from the last bottle I had of this; much softer and more refined; juicy. Moderate almost light sourness; lemon juice, hint of orange zest. Tart grape skin texture in the finish.

Dull foxy orange/amber color; thin spritzy head that fizzles away to nothing. Ultra funky aroma, cheese, feet, sulfur, grapes, and when I was taking off the cap there was this black gunk on it that was positively rancid. but in a good way. Extremely sour, massive dry out effect, grapey aftertaste. In retrospect I probably should have split this 750 with someone; this just killed my stomach halfway through. just one of those beers that’s so good it hurts.

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Feb 24, 2008 Bottle, cork has ’Bottled in 2004’, so, this is about four years old, pours a clear gold with orange and amber mixed in that was sparkling, there were some floaties hanging around (I tried to pour carefully), pour had a few white bubbles that kind of made a ring in the glass, I saw some real fine carbonation in this bubbling up but it was scarce, has da funk of a barn, a wood ash fragrance (not smokey), sour and wood aromas, initially faint sweetness, grape, apple and light fruit flavors but this is over run quickly by the tart and sour in the finish that lingers on the palate, has a dry wine touch to it and a good sour bite that left a tingle in my oral cavaties, some grape skins on the tongue, has a medium or so mouth feel, certainly is not on the heavy side, I may try to find a bottle with less age on it that which may have more grape flavor. Grapey, but in a very good way. Hazy cream soda pour. The grapes give it a strong white wine push into the traditional lambic tarness, yeastiness, even mustiness. More sweetness than one would expect. AmEricanbrew (1808), Doing Rogue, Louisiana, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 4, 2008 Sampled during joebrew’s last day at Cellar’s Wine & Spirits in St Paul, Minnesota and shared by brewfiend. Pours a semi-cloudy golden yellow brew with a fast dissolving white head that dissipates clean. Aroma of tart chardonnay white wine, strong yeast funk, apple cider and some orange zest. Taste is typical geuze character, very tart, spritzy barnyard yeast flavor but with more lemon zest tartness. Finish is dry, light on alcohol with a yeast funk aftertaste that linger long after the finish.
