Commercial Description:
Vigneronne is a blending muscat grapes and lambic, the brewers and beer merchants produced the "druivenlambik" (grapes lambic). White grapes soaked in lambic. The fructose, which abounds in these fruits, enables us to make a beer which is more mellow than the Gueuze or the other fruit beers. The spontaneous fermentation, the ageing in the barrels for several years and the addition of grapes make it a distant cousin of certain white wines.

Pale orange pour with cream colored swirls. Sizeable white head is nearly instantly vanishing. Lacing thin, but nearly full coverage. Aroma is sweeter than most Cantillon offerings, a melange of grape notes that include muscat, green unripened, sun-baked pinot noir and musty, moldy ones as well. All this is but a minor hint of fruitiness, though it’s an addition well recieved and complimentary. Tangible Cantillon yeast punch and barnyard notes are wholly evident, similar to the gueuze. Lemon rinds and wheat malts are noted. Flavor is slightly toasty and tastes young and slightly underdeveloped, a stark contrast to the carbonation level(very low). Extremely acidic with light to moderate sweetness. Finishes acidic and with some balance for such a sour beer, sweetness lingering and relaxing some otherwise brutish acidity. Palate is light to medium bodied, moderately carbonated and mouth-puckering. Sharp tannic notes increase the bite. Intense.

Colour of peach, no head. Sour apple cider and grapes in the aroma. Taste apple, plum, grapes and even grapefruit, wood and lime. Fantastic nectar-like moouthfeel.

Slightly hazy, pale body with no head. The aroma is heavy horseblanket, lemon and yogurt. The flavor has a touch of sweetness, lots of tart with lemon, blue cheese, vinous, oak and funk. Medium/light body is very soft and nice with a tart finish.

From a 750mL Bottle. Pours a hazy golden peach color with a bubbly, quickly dissipating head of bright white. Relatively still in appearance, but disturbance generates a shimmer of fine bubbles. Signature Cantillon sourness in the aroma, with the muscato grape sweetness clearly evident underneath. A nice added touch of floral tangelo notes and brie cheese add a nice complexity thats spiced with a crack of white pepper. Light bodied, mildly carbonated mouthfeel. Some cheese rind funky flavors start out right away, along with some sauvingon blanc tannins and a bit of dry oak. Lots of peppery spice. An adequate amount of acidic dryness starts off up front, but sadly grows a bit thin as the flavors are left to linger. Needs a bit more carbonation to give it that crisp, biting edge. Finishes with a sour smack of pomegranite rind.

Rerate, 750mL bottle at Pizzeria Paradiso (Georgetown), bottled October 30th, 2006. Pours a murky grapefruit color; thin, white head with patchy lacin. Enormous amounts of funk, tart citrus, horseblanket, and sour white grapes in the aroma; grapefruit and a biting sourness; great amounts of funk. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: tons of jaw-clenching tart citrus, lemons, and funk (horseblanket, sweat); layered, very tart and funky lambic; some white vinous notes and woodiness / toasty oak; generous, funky, grapey. Mouthwatering stuff. Lengthy, tart citrus and funk and some wood in the finish; nice and solidly tart through the end. 9.4.8.4.15=4.0

Draft, Max’s 3rd Annual Belgian Beer Festival. Hazy, golden-honey appearance; headless. Horseblanket and lemon in the aroma. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: horseblanket, lemony citrus, tart yellow fruit. Medium, citrus and lemon finish. Tasty, palatable citrus character. 7.3.6.4.14=3.4

Bottle. Literally no head. Hazy orange body mostly looking like an orange soda, however with a good deal of yeast sediments. Spciy acidic grape vinegar aroma. Flavor dominated by acidic grape fruit. Thin mouthfeel but long and good aftertaste.

Bottle sampled on 6/9/06: Pours a clear golden bronze with a nicely-lacing wispy white head. Tart funky sour and dry aroma has a touch of lightly fruity grapes. Body starts with a slight hint of sweet malt and light fruit before the tart, funky, earthy sourness takes over. Authentic and enjoyable, but hard to drink a whole 750ml bottle.
