Commercial Description:
Vigneronne is a blending muscat grapes and lambic, the brewers and beer merchants produced the "druivenlambik" (grapes lambic). White grapes soaked in lambic. The fructose, which abounds in these fruits, enables us to make a beer which is more mellow than the Gueuze or the other fruit beers. The spontaneous fermentation, the ageing in the barrels for several years and the addition of grapes make it a distant cousin of certain white wines.

750mL bottle, 2005 vintage. Murky yellow-orange with a burst of effervescence that dies down to a thin film of head. Muskiness; horseblanket and rain-soaked cow pasture, with an underlying acetic tinge. Acetic sourness dominates the flavor profile, with a pantina of horsey muskiness. Some sharp tannic grape character breaks through in the finish, with residual must and tartness. Mouthfeel is light, very dry.

Cloudy, yellow brown with a large head that quickly disappears. Tart, apply, yeasty aroma. Extremely sour. Grape was detectable only as a sour, underripe grape juice aftertaste.

750ml. Bottle. Purchased at Hight Times Wine Cellar in Costa, Mesa CA. I love Cantillon brews, after visitng the brewery I’ve wanted to try everything that has every left that space and I was glad to finally un cork this. The beer pours a light hazy orangish yellow. There is a light head that fades to almost nothing. The aroma is subtle and slightly sweet with a grape tinge. The brew tastes very much like a slightly altered gueze. If I was tasting this blind I might be convinced this was a gueze, but the finish and aftertaste certainly have a grape taste that shine through. Drinkable, but tart, not recommended for a lambic novice, if your a pro dive in and don’t come up for air anytime soon.

The aroma had moldy cheese, funk, spices, and a slight flower note. The beer poured a yellow color with thin lasting head and slight lacing. The flavor had soury light fermented fruit, cheese, spice, and slihgt flowers. The mouthfeel was light and well carbonated.

Aroma was of a musky, sour white wine, astutely acidic but not too powerful. Interestingly, when I poured the dregs into the glass (something I wouldn’t normally do with lambics, but I’d already mistakenly poured about half in there so I figured what the hell), the aroma became almost completely masked. The pour (before the dregs) was a clear, peachy-yellow with zero head; very unexciting. Funky and sour in the mouth, a pretty strong sourness but not IMO enough complexity and a completely non-existant finish. All flavor dissappeared from this brew before it was even down. Still wreaked hell on my stomach, though. The grape was slightly noticable and afforded the beer more pronounced white wine characteristics than it’s bretheren, but it didn’t really do much for the overall experience of the beer. I’d prefer a gueuze.

light honey color, no head. really funky, damp wood, barnyard and cheese kind of smells, with a grapey, wine-y scent. quite tart, with white wine notes and a bit woody; also a bit of a green, vegetable-like taste i couldn’t put my finger on (perhaps the grape skins? sour apples maybe?). very, very dry. good, but although i love sour beers, i felt that the sourness became a bit overpowering at times.

i was at the beer store and saw this and thought, hell, why not i’ve got a job now, let’s celebrate. pours a cloudy orange with a white head that vanishes as soon as i finish pouring. the aroma is sweet by cantillon standards some band aid, sweaty wet fur smell and the grapes add that touch of sweet. this one does not make my jaws clench like others have, grape taste comes through nd really round out the acidity well. this went well with the frozen pizza i spiced up. spicey food and this beer pair well in my opinion. this reminded me of some dry ciders i’ve had.
