puzzl (2579), New York, New York, USA Aug 17, 2006 Aroma was of a musky, sour white wine, astutely acidic but not too powerful. Interestingly, when I poured the dregs into the glass (something I wouldn’t normally do with lambics, but I’d already mistakenly poured about half in there so I figured what the hell), the aroma became almost completely masked. The pour (before the dregs) was a clear, peachy-yellow with zero head; very unexciting. Funky and sour in the mouth, a pretty strong sourness but not IMO enough complexity and a completely non-existant finish. All flavor dissappeared from this brew before it was even down. Still wreaked hell on my stomach, though. The grape was slightly noticable and afforded the beer more pronounced white wine characteristics than it’s bretheren, but it didn’t really do much for the overall experience of the beer. I’d prefer a gueuze. feedmec00kies (49), New York, New York, USA Aug 17, 2006 light honey color, no head. really funky, damp wood, barnyard and cheese kind of smells, with a grapey, wine-y scent. quite tart, with white wine notes and a bit woody; also a bit of a green, vegetable-like taste i couldn’t put my finger on (perhaps the grape skins? sour apples maybe?). very, very dry. good, but although i love sour beers, i felt that the sourness became a bit overpowering at times. johnnydollar (35), greenville, South Carolina, USA Aug 15, 2006 Updated: Dec 10, 2006kind of like biting a lemon without the citrus flavor. and it is making my stomach feel kind of sour. not all bad though. kind of fizzy. cloudy orenge in color. i won’t be having any more... Kevin (1917), Colorado, USA Aug 15, 2006 i was at the beer store and saw this and thought, hell, why not i’ve got a job now, let’s celebrate. pours a cloudy orange with a white head that vanishes as soon as i finish pouring. the aroma is sweet by cantillon standards some band aid, sweaty wet fur smell and the grapes add that touch of sweet. this one does not make my jaws clench like others have, grape taste comes through nd really round out the acidity well. this went well with the frozen pizza i spiced up. spicey food and this beer pair well in my opinion. this reminded me of some dry ciders i’ve had. MesandSim (5790), London, Greater London, England Aug 14, 2006 A Mes rate: 75cl bottle from Cambrinus in Bruges. Quite thick and syrupy in texture compared to their other offerings. The grapes are pretty clear in both the aroma and the flavour. Typical Cantillon stuff. Lemon, grapfruit and a little more funk in the nose than usual. Very cloudy body, no head at all. A little sweeter and not quite so tart as you would expect. Must be the grapes taking the edge off it. Obvious white wine notes. Tartness comes through for the wonderful dry finish. Not their best but damn fine stuff all the same. Gr0ve (1382), Oslo, Norway Jul 26, 2006 Bottle, Københavnske Øldage 2006. Glowing golden orange and clear. Rich malty and vinous sour nose. Notes of muscat and eating grapes. Sour vinous flavours throughout. peter (385), Dallas, Texas, USA Jul 23, 2006 Nicely acidic, with a subtle touch of grape flavour. Girl who was over said it smelled like vomit. And tasted like vomit. Miksu (2187), Jyväskylä, Finland Jul 15, 2006 0,375 l bottle. Almost bright orange-yellow color, no head. Acetic and lactic sourness in the aroma along with sulfur and apple. Sour and dry flavor with pineapple and sulfur. Bitter-sour finish with pineapple and raisins. Very sour and pineapple flavored.
