Miksu (2194), Jyväskylä, Finland Jul 15, 2006 0,375 l bottle. Almost bright orange-yellow color, no head. Acetic and lactic sourness in the aroma along with sulfur and apple. Sour and dry flavor with pineapple and sulfur. Bitter-sour finish with pineapple and raisins. Very sour and pineapple flavored. NosirIwont (1162), Aalborg Vestby, Denmark Jul 13, 2006 Bottle. Pours a hazy yellow-orange with a small white head. Complex sweet, sour and fruity aroma with a strange thing to it, which I can’t put my finger on. Friend of mine described it as ‘unwashed goat’ – don’t know if I agree with this exact description, but I get the idea… it’s not a very nice smell, Fortunately it tend to ‘loosen up’ the longer you smell it. Still really not my thing. Flavour is sour and fruity. Notes of melon. Has similarities with white wine. Finish is dryish and bitter, but it’s not a hoppy bitterness. Interesting beer, but again – not my thing. 11-07-06. Walt (2289), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jul 11, 2006 2003: Pour is hazed goldedn yellow with a thin skin of an off white head...smell is dry and heartily funky with cheese and barnyard...taste is tart but very very dry...oaky and tart...delicious...some apple too... tupalev (2605), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jul 3, 2006 My bottle shared with many fine folks Canada Day ’o6. Not sure on the vintage. Lovely aroma - really funky lambic with hint of sour grape - I sniffed this one for a while, it really was intoxicating (not in a I’m getting drunk sort of way of course). Murky hazy dark yellow appearance, small bubbles, not really any head to speak of. Wow, super tart on first sip! Nice mix of lambic and grape skins. Funky, earthy, and so quenching and drinkable. I love the complex beers I have been able to try from these guys, and I love how I have warmed up them - I would have turned my nose up to this 3 years ago. HogTownHarry (3922), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada Jul 1, 2006 Bottle (750ml). Shared with GregClow, tupalev, DougShoemaker, mds, Radek and others - tupalev’s bottle. Murky pale orange with a small white head. Muted sour funky-yeasty aroma, plenty of tart lemon/orange bitterness - nice. Taste is also not surprisingly sour, yeasty, funky and woody; the bitterness (and a hint of dark fruit) must come from the grape skins - not as complex as some, but excellent balance. A tad weak-bodied, but nicely lively and acidic, with a long, ultimately bitter/tart/sour fruit finish. A very easy-drinking Cantillon and a nice refreshing palate cleanser to finish off another highly successful tasting. thehipone (197), Australia Jun 18, 2006 SImply splendid. Tasted on tap at Max’s in Baltimore. It is what I wish white wine tasted like. Boldly sour and spritzy. Random fruit flavors and aromas dominated by the grape notes. very refreshing. ThomasE (5179), Copenhagen, Denmark Jun 15, 2006 Hazy orange colour with a small head. Fruity, vinous aroma with a light note of wood. tart fruity flavor with a light yeasty finish. goldtwins (4079), Nesconset, New York, USA Jun 12, 2006 Bottle @ The Brick Store bought for my birthday by Bob "RateandPillage" Sandage. Poured a lightly hazed golden yellow with a small white head. The aroma was funky and tart. Not as funky as some though. Nice vinous notes. It had a wheaty citrus. Some sweaty notes. The flavor was tart and acidic. Strong notes of white wine....a Chardonnay perhaps. Very tasty, light and refreshing. I would drink this while sitting on the deck of my boat. Oh yeah don’t have one. But open air and sun maybe some cheese...mmm.
