I’ve had a bottle of this sitting around the house for a while, but when it became available at Capital Ale House, I felt it was a moral imperative to order it with lunch. Hazy medium gold and orange, slight, soft carbonation, but no head. Big horseblanket aroma, yet somehow refined versus brash. Flavor was horseblanket, barnyard, a touch of goat cheese, and something ethereal and lightly fruity floating sweetly in the background. Cantillon acidity is present, but a touch of sweet from the grapes remains in this relatively young beer. A wonderfully sophisticated beverage. rsmeds (220), Turku, Finland

Whoah. Mind-blowingly skunky sour aroma. Sulphur, blue cheese, stinky feet and yeast. Rather unpleasant, frankly.
Very dry, sour flavor of yeast, citrus and grapes.
Sticky, dry palate.
Certainly an aquired taste, but an interesting aquaintance nevertheless. I could probably enjoy this one if it weren’t for the appalling aroma. oh6gdx (8838), Vasa, Finland

Bottled. Hazy orange colour with almost non-existant head. Aroma is sour wood, with vanilla and some whitewineish notes. Flavour is much the same along with some sour berries added. Excellently balanced. 8 3 8 5 16. CampbellWilson (533), Scotland
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Oct 10, 2005 Bottle from Beers of Europe. Golden hazy orange, quickly dissipating head. Aroma has usual cantillon brett, cheese, lemon, feet, wood, but there is a definite muscat presence. Still wersh, but there is a hint of sweetness in this one. Puckeringly dry finish. God, I love these beers. bluevegie (2185), Perth, Australia
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 9, 2005 Dull yellow going on gold body. Big fat bubbles for a head that did not hang around. White wine on the nose as well as sweat. Sweet grapefruit in the taste folllowed by the familiar sourness of the cantlllons. GregClow (2495), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 22, 2005 Bottle at O’Brien’s, San Diego, shared with a bunch of RateBeer locals - courtesy of someone or other. (Things were getting pretty fuzzy by this point - I could barely take notes, let alone keep track of who was buying the rounds. So this rating will have to serve as a placeholder until I can get it a more informed/sober review.) Hazy yellow-orange colour. Funky barnyard nose, a little cheesy. Sour, acidic, lemony flavour. Jeez, these notes suck! Otje (668), Leiden, Netherlands

| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 3, 2005 Blind taste test Id’ swear up and down this is a gueuze....virtually no fruitiness (grapes in this case supposedly) but still pretty decent and challenging. I’d say the main flavor was sour wheat.
