Styles (1653), Lincoln Park, Michigan, USA May 25, 2005 Bottle courtesy of Wohlfs. Light golden color with no head. Aroma has very nice sourness to it, no white grape at all. Flavor has same sourness with a little vinegar and white grape. Finishes very dry. Terminus (1955), Las Cruces, New Mexico, USA May 16, 2005 bottle-pours a pale/neon yellow hue with a small white head. big funk, vinegar, barnyard thing going on in the aroma-almost burns your nostrils! Some cherry notes as well. Very vineous both in aroma and in flavors with alot of sour grapes as well. interesting, but not my thing. chriso (4677), London, Greater London, England May 7, 2005 Pale orange colour. Reasonably funky and sharp, but there’s not much onvious contribution from then grapes. Whilst it could hardly be described as an easy beer, iIts certainly a mite more approachable and mellow (maybe even the slightest hint of sweetness?) than the usual Cantillon fare, but I’m not sure that’s a plus. Not bad, but one of Cantillons greats in my book. Bottled at the London Joet gathering, January 2005.
Engelsmann (653), Copenhagen, Denmark Apr 24, 2005 2005 tapping. Pours dark golden. Soft sweet lambic aroma. Very sweet, the taste of grapes is rather pronounced. Aftertaste is acidic funky 11026 (1799), Alabama, USA Apr 23, 2005 Bottle. Golden colored with little head. No lacing. Tart and acetic aroma, definate barnyard. Not a lot of action from the grapes in aroma or flavor. Light to medium bodied. Tart and astringent on the palate. I don’t know if the grapes made this any more mellow than a Gueuze. Very nice product.
Pailhead (2572), Allen Park, Michigan, USA Apr 22, 2005 Updated: Apr 24, 2009Bottle: Sour and tart vinegar aroma but not as sour as other Cantillons. Pours a light goldish-orange with a quickly diminishing white head. Very sour and tart. Light grapes a only slightly noticeable. Light vinegar. Very slight woodiness in the finish. Bottle: the aroma is musty and funky with sour lemon and slightly cheesy. It pours a cloudy golden-orange with a minimal white head that quickly fades to a thin film. This one had a huge mouth puckering lemon tartness along with a slight mustiness. Light bodied with mild carbonation. I love the intensely sour lambics, so this was much better than the previous bottle I sampled. Eyedrinkale (3209), Astoria, New York, USA Apr 22, 2005 Bottle (thanks Wohlfs). Cloudy orange. Aromas of mellow white vinegar and honey. Taste is bitter orange peel, funky leather, hay, straw, typical Cantillon stuff. Dry and tart. Bits of oak and white grapes. Nicely tart. Jeppe (2638), Ølbutikken, Denmark Apr 19, 2005 Pours hazy orange with no head. Dominating grapefruit aroma with tones of wild fermentation and light spices. Nice and fresh. Tart flavor, but not as sour as most other Cantillons. Dry with notes of grapefruit and wood. Some sweetness underneath. Thick and syrupy mouthfull and a long lasting sour finish. Really nice, but not up there among the top Cantillons!
