COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Vigneronne is a blending muscat grapes and lambic, the brewers and beer merchants produced the "druivenlambik" (grapes lambic). White grapes soaked in lambic. The fructose, which abounds in these fruits, enables us to make a beer which is more mellow than the Gueuze or the other fruit beers. The spontaneous fermentation, the ageing in the barrels for several years and the addition of grapes make it a distant cousin of certain white wines. Changed name from Druivenlambik in 1987.

Bottle. Poured a hazy yellow-orange color with a wispy white head. Aroma is light grapes, some floral character. Flavor is very tart grape and floral notes. Pretty darn tasty! Liked it.

Makes a great aperitif. Be ready for the up front sourness exploding in your mouth. Followed by Crisp grape. Very refreshing.

Hazy yellow body with no foam at all. Aroma has sweet fruits, little bit of mango with evident grape character, reminds me of white wine for sure. Taste has medium sour sweetness, quite dry. Body is full, light soft carbonation.

750 ml bottle sample @ L’Autre-Oeuil Gatineau. Pours an effervescent clear golden yellow with a small, short-lived head. Aromas a bright citrus fruit, under-ripe grapes and yeasty funk. Taste is a super assertive sour punch from start to finish. Bites the palate like a dry, white wine. Super clean. Loved it, but would not want too much of it at a sitting.

75cl bottle (vintage?) shared @NachtvdGroteDorst 2014, takk ?Johan? Mellow blend of green apple tartness and sweeter, vinuous notes of honey, white grape and pickled lime. Gentle funk and grape seeds add unusual registers to the Cantillon complexity. Fructose stickiness to the palate, a step aside from the usual refreshing tartness. Drowned amid more portent sours of the night - Will have to revisit.

750ml bottle. Hazy yellow amber colour, short-lived white foam head and aroma of tangy citrus, grape juice, woody oak, barnyard funk. Taste is similar, sour lemony, grapefruit, oaky wood, vanilla, barnyard notes. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, dry sour finish. Very drinkable.

Vignerrone, in its many forms, is one of my favorite cantillons. It experiences a bit of fatigue at around the 10 year mark, where it almost turns to an apple cider vinegar in some 1997/1999 bottles I’ve had. A fresh vignerrone with less than 3-6 years age is optimal for truly tasting the dry, dusty nature of the Muscat grape.. The original pre-version of Vignerrone (Lambic de Raisin Druivenlambik/ Cuvee neuf Nations..) was extremely oxidized, however batch one (1985) of Vignerrone as we know it today, had held up extremely well when I sampled in Oct. 2013 at the Denver Ghost Tasting. I have enjoyed some of the variants, including the Akkurat special Chaselas grape Vignerrone, which was another great example of what can be done with a dry, white grape. The sweetness comes through in fresh to mid-aged examples, and as the years add on, the fruit starts to fade into a load of funky vinegar. In my opinion a great example of why grapes and lambic seem to have been meant for one another.

Sampled on several occasions. Pours light golden yellow with a fine head. Aromas include nice grape scents of especially chardonnay (buttery aspect) and muscadet (fruity notes). This blends marvelously with the base lambic. The palate is sweeter than the other Cantillons, but balances well with the tartness.
