Commercial Description:
Vigneronne is a blending muscat grapes and lambic, the brewers and beer merchants produced the "druivenlambik" (grapes lambic). White grapes soaked in lambic. The fructose, which abounds in these fruits, enables us to make a beer which is more mellow than the Gueuze or the other fruit beers. The spontaneous fermentation, the ageing in the barrels for several years and the addition of grapes make it a distant cousin of certain white wines.

Bottle conditioned from Pitfield Beer Shop, London. 750ml. Fairly sour, with a little dryness but also a fair amount of sweetness. White wine notes, grapes, slightly acidic. Very nice.

Wet earth, musty, lightly sour citrus yet also sweet and perfumey aroma. Pours a decent white head that recedes to cover. Yellow straw coloured body with a tinge of sunset. Plenty of sedimented yeast. Excellent puckering tartness. Notes of citrus and grape come through. Very wine like and dry. Great carbonation. Champagne-like mouthfeel. A drink to toast with for certain. Bottle (1991 Cantillon Cuvée des Neuf Nations). Enjoyed with mr_kimchee, MartinT, Oakes and Rastacouere. Thankyou Joris!

On first uncorking, a citric, sour, mustiness pervades the air from out of the bottle. Bright golden color, slight haze, with a solid white head that wittles down to nothingness in seconds flat. Aroma: a subdued sour, a mellow lemon/orange, and a certain je’ne sais whosits, a dank must, but with a trace of sweetness and honey. Taste: bracingly sour, instant grimace graces the countenance, but once you get over it, it’s pretty easy to take. A light, rounded fruitiness lays underneath, a pleasant flavor, vibrant, tangy, tasty. Medium body, extraordinary, tart texture, with a long, comfortable finish, giving a little spark with every encounter with the tongue. Good stuff ! Muscat grapes mixed with unblended lambic...I like it!

Unremarkable appearance, little head. Funky smell, wheaty, tangy, wild grains aroma, wierd grape skin bitterness. Ashes. Taste: very tart bordering on sour, wheat, sour grape and citric/lactic acid blend. Clean finish. A bit too little fruit. Distinctive but not mind blowing. Thanks, wunder!

1999 vintage 375mL bottle drank June 2004. Pours a yellowish-straw flecked with darker golds and some light coppers. Pretty nice looking with big hazy yellow/olive shades coming out when the yeast has been dumped in at the end. Obviously bottle conditioned. Small head, quite fizzy as usual. Smells magnificent, plenty of leathery tannins, lots of sharp white vinegar notes and of course some light grape hints. Moderate amount of funk. Flavor is wonderful for a gueuze. Though it’s made with fruit, this one does not overdo it (not that I was worried after trying their Kriek). Grapes add some extra sourness, some light vinous notes and a bigger tartness, but the gueuze is there; funky and yeasty. Very leathery, dry, tart and acidic. Didnt find this as funky and complex as the 98 kriek, but it was still an excellent experience.
