Vigneronne is a blending muscat grapes and lambic, the brewers and beer merchants produced the "druivenlambik" (grapes lambic). White grapes soaked in lambic. The fructose, which abounds in these fruits, enables us to make a beer which is more mellow than the Gueuze or the other fruit beers. The spontaneous fermentation, the ageing in the barrels for several years and the addition of grapes make it a distant cousin of certain white wines. Changed name from Druivenlambik in 1987.

750 ml bottle served from a lambic basket into a Zwanze Day taster glass. 2009 vintage. Big thanks to sweemzander for the share. A: Pours a hazy orange color with a minimal white head forming on the pour. It recedes to a to very thin ring. No lace. S: White wine grapes with some light wheat sweetness. Very soft with tart white grape aspect. Light oak. T: Oaky and funky with some white grape tartness. Dry oaky tannins with a little bit of mineral in the finish. M: Light and bubbly carbonation. Tart and dry finish with a light body. O: Very good. Not over the top with sourness or tartness, but it has enough of oak and white grape tartness to draw you back in. Hazy and deep golden in colour. The head is fast fading prickling and white. On the nose you got plenty aromas of citrus fruits like lemon, citron, orange but also strong notes of white grape, green apples. As this suggestion of aromas describes the programme goes on. Fizzy at first fading quickly into a really pleasant watery, medium-strong sour and light sweet acidity in taste, which reminds you of some Federweisser (young wine). Lovely balanced and mouth watering! Excellent with Gruyere! On the finish you got some sour dryness which lasts quite a while and is nicely balanced without being abrasive at all. Pretty good lambic I think!

On tap@pikkis. Yellow hazy. Aside from the normal funky horsey flavours, there’s a good greenish fruityness. Underripe green apples, or even pears. Fabulous drink, again, by cantillon, but not really my favourite. Too tarty green apple- fruity.
