4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
750ml bottle shared with rob at cantillon. they didn’t have fou’foune (which i’ve had before) so we had this instead. Pours a very hazy orangey-yellow. Aroma is of the Cantillon brewery itself - musty, barn, dusty, yeasty but you can smell the grapes too. Taste is tart, sour, dry, lively, yeasty, fruity/acidic grapes. tastes of the smell of oak barrel.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Smells and tastes like a lot of lactic sourness mixed with white grapes. There is also some acetic taste in there, presumably from age. This is a very drinkable sour.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
750ml bottle served in a chalice. A: Nice bottle art, first of all. Pours a cloudy orange color forming a small white head with very small retention. Only very few lacings are formed and left in the glass. S: Very fruity and vinegar, as expected. Quite winy: with strong notes of white wine. Some notes of oak. Earthy yeasts and bit metallic end. T: Very fruity upfront. Funky. Dominated by Muscat grapes. A bit metallic in upfront too. Lemony acidity. Strong notes of vinegar. Oak. In overall, quite sour and dry. Earthy yeasts. M: Light body. Low carbonation. Acid, as usual, with a strong Lambic fruitiness in the aftertaste. O: Good drinkability. Classic Cantillon, I mean, a very fruity beer that is, at the same time, tart and extremely dry.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from Graham I believe. 2009 bottling date.
A: Cloudy gold with a thin fuzzy white head. Bubbles roughing the bottom of the glass. No lacing.
N: Dusty attics, lemon juice, grapefruit rind, green apple, oak for miles. Horse blanket, white wine grape, and a hint of chamomile.
T: Intensely sour. A loll your head back and pucker cause your lips are now chapped. Very minor grape sweetness.
M: Dry to the point of desiccation. Biting carb. Very light body.
O: The white wine gets swallowed by the yeast. Tasty though I prefer the LP series.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
"#4800 - wish list. Very musty aroma. Grapelike undertones. Lots of funk. Body is more acidic than the St L. Flavor still has a little lemon, but also sweet musty grapes and barnyard. Good stuff, though maybe a little too much coin for a "good" beer."

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: MAR 19, 2015 Bottle: 2009. Thanks, Tim. Very hazy, nearing full opacity, bursting radiance with loads of rustic yellow & orange hues. The white, foamy head is reduced to a collar only moments after pouring. Bursting vinous aroma. Sour white grapes, gooseberry, dusty citron & lemon. Moderately acidic & lactic in nature. As usual, full force on that musty barnyard funk, signature Cantillon terroir, soured oak, & sweaty feet. Now & again, I get enticing notes of flower pedals, light cinnamon spice, & wild strawberry sweetness... All tertiary, but compiling into this labyrinth-esque aroma. Insanely sour flavor. Instant pucker as it hits my lips. Ripping white grape, lemon, & citric sourness on a palette of bacteria laden wood. I get a bit of cherry skin & floral notes as well. Finishes with some biting acidity, vinous & oaky grape, & one last kiss of that dusty old barnyard funk. Expectations: met, possibly even surpassed. Vig is the real deal.

Taste is sour fruis, peppers, dry white wine, with a strong peach and apple finish. Dry crisp sour aftertaste. This one has aged pretty well.
