trapez (766), Hilleroed, Denmark Jun 2, 2009 Bottle. Wine, grapes and yeast in aroma. Unclear orangeyellow colour with very small white head. Sour with very bitter aftertaste. Plenty of grapes. Prickling. Jsawyer (282), Glenside, Pennsylvania, USA May 28, 2009 Bottle. Poured thick white foamy head that subsided fast but left a nice white crown atop a slightly turbid gold body. Aroma was a nice hit of very tart yeast, subtly sulfuric, slight hints of apple, obvious white grape sweetness, cantaloupe, hints of earthy (most likely oak) barrel; wonderful. Flavor was earnestly tart, again the white grapes came through but not overpoweringly, light vinegar, champagne, then it suddenly deviates to a mellow citrus, nectar, not quite ripe peach, almost cantaloupe rind, earthy and woody abound toward the finish. Palate was generously carbonated, crisp, and refreshingly light - beyond anything budweiser could ever imagine. Certainly one of the best beers I’ve ever had. jfb (413), Weihenstephan, Germany May 26, 2009 (bottle, 2007) pours a lightly hazy golden colour with a fluffy white head. aroma of citrus fruits, barnyard skunk and sweet, sugared musty grapes. flavour is dominantly citric, with light notes of balsamic vinegar and sweet bread. medium bodied and generously carbonated with a crisp, sour finish. an excellent summer quencher! twitcher (293), framingham, Massachusetts, USA May 24, 2009 bottle.
Pours a slightly hazy orange with a decent half inch of foamy white head. Superb nose... light fruity sweetness with a relatively minor amount of funky tartness. Flavor improves on a solid aroma- funk comes more to the front, blending with the tamed apple and grape sweetness. Sourness is solid but easy- sharp tartness on the front, with some lingering light sourness throughout. Superb flavor. Palate is even and full, with some light lingering funk. cprochak (388), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA May 19, 2009 Draft at Sourfest ’09 at Brouwer’s for Seattle Beer Week. Pours a clear bubbly golden with a nice cream head. Grapes dominate the aroma and it made me feel as though I was about to dive into a gewurtztraminer (definitely the muscat now that I see the description). Very sweet initially with a hint of sour, but the sourness developed more as the beer warmed well. Not very complex overall though. Very lightly carbonated and incredibly smooth and light bodied. Clean finish. after4ever (2711), Brier, Washington, USA May 17, 2009 Draft at Brouwer’s Cafe’s Sourfest. Murky medium gold. Very cloudy. Still. Headless. Laceless. Tangy sour orange nose. Watery light body. Tangy sour orange again on the mid-palate. The body’s slim, and unfortunately so is the flavor profile. Too mild. Clearly must be revisited in the bottle. gracefullypunk (272), Washington, USA May 16, 2009 Tasted at SWB’s Sour Fest along with 15 others. This is the beer, however, that I kept going back to again and again. It improved as it sat, allowing more flavors to come through, from a beginning overpowering sour to a more mellow sour apple to lemon flavors at the end. If you don.t like vinegar, don’t go for this, as the aroma is overwhelming, but the taste is worth it. carruthm (1112), Seattle, Washington, USA May 16, 2009 On tap at Brouwer’s for Sour Fest. Looks flat with no head or bubble disturbance. Super cloudy watery murky orange yellow color. Vinegar is the primary sense white and strong. More huge vinegar on the taste and yet the palate is smooth though still a bit distilled.
