Pours a pale orange color, with a small, quickly disappearing white head. Smells of traditional Cantillon funk, very acidic and sour smelling, to go along with some fruity notes. Just plain sour. One thing this brewetry is, is consistent. The familiar Cantillon sourness just attacks me from all angles. \Hardly even notice the grapes or fruits that are brewed with this beer. If you like sour, this is for you. If you dont, run and hide. SDbruboy (1833), San Diego, California, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 19, 2006 7509 ml bottle, purchased at O’Briens. Pours a slightly hazy golden-white color with a small white head composed of very fine bubbles. Aroma is dry, dry, dry, champagne and horseblanket, fruity notes without the sweetness, sourish, with wood and a bit of sweat. Flavor is very complex and nice, tart, sour and dry, with a definite fruitiness from the grapes, but totally bereft of the sugars, lots of lemon, brett and funk, wet wool and oaky tannins. Medium body, with very fine bubbles characterizing the carbonation. Quite unique and enjoyable overall. thornecb (1822), Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA

No head, but bright white hugs the rim. Bright white grape and lambic funkaromas. Sharp and tart upfront with a lasting dry, Gueuze finish. The grapes don’t really stand out, but as close to wine as any beer I’ve tried. Would probably be a good cross-over for a dry white drinker... rederic (1816), montréal, Quebec, Canada
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Mar 9, 2006 Bottled 2004, cloudy yellow gold color, with a shy white head, but vanishing in a blink of an eye, the nose has a wet oaky wood note, hint of white grapes fruitiness and a touch of honey, still has the famous cantillon tartness, sourness and wineyness aspects in the aroma plus with an acidic and a leathery accent. Follows by the traditional lambic flavors, with a mild fruitiness character from the muscat grapes used, who seems to come first, following by the sharpness of the beer, but being less agressive than the other cantillons, the brettanomyces are doing their job again, with the tartness, sourness, oakiness notes, leading towards a dry winey finish. Bretty to the mellower extreme - not new as in Mo Betta (which is still great!). This was a 7 yr old bottle (1997), so 9 or 10 yr old beer, essentially. The Shelton Bro import city was Durham, NC, which must have been right before Miami, and MA now. Sour and perfectly smooth on the tongue, the fruit here is nearly completely gone, as a miss in blind tasting confirmed. Wet wood, not the tinder dry balsa. Delicious. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 24, 2006 Bottle. Big classic Cantillon geuze nose-horsey, barn, brettriffic! Deep yellow fizzy body that looks like heavy champagne. Taste-instant sour blast followed by a quick sweet thinness. Toasty brett, oak, light tart tannins, lingering astringency, light pear and apple. Overall not one of Cantillon’s best beers, but even this is way above average. To sum it up, this is a classic Cantillon geuze with some lingering fruit and a thinner body. Gets an extra point on appearance for lively CO2 and foam ring. | 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | May 26, 2004 Just not my style. This was a waste of an apparently good lambic. Pale yellow with no head. Musty, fruity nose. Not inviting or appealing. Body was light to medium. Very harsh taste. Just did not enjoy this. pilsnerrogge (1797), Finspång, Sweden
