Bottle @ Cantillon, Brussels, shared with Inbreak and ej. Pours a slightly hazy golden orange body with a big foamy white head. Nose is tart citric peel, horseblanket, pears, green apples, vinegar, hay, hints of something fruity (probably rhubarb, but I find it hard to discern properly) along with bitter grassy notes. Taste is acidic apple vinegar and mellow rhubarb tones (much more evident than the aroma but still quite subtle) horseblanket and hints of hay and citric peel. Dry, tart lemony finish. Light body, sparkling carbonation. Utterly drinkable. Truly great stuff; glad I had the chance to drink this.

2012 at the brewery - thanks Jason!! Pours slightly hazy brilliant gold color with a full bright white head. Smell is floral, herbal, some light honey sweetness. Taste is tart, some rhubarb, floral notes, herb action as well. Finishes dry and tart. Fine carbonation structure. Active and effervescent carbonation. Light body.

Bottle - Z 2012 at the brewery, 26/04/13 all to myself as a lucnchtime treat. Lightly hazed golden amber with a thin white head that clears to the edge after an initial ’big head’ appearance. Nose is lemon rind, grass, barnyard, grandads shed, damp wood. Taste comprises musty notes, hay, light spice, woody notes, farmy, straw, tarte fruit punch. Can’t say I got the thubarb as such. Medium bodied, perfectly pitched carbonation, dry dry finish. Excellent.

Bottiglia 75cl @ Cantillon Brewery/Museum Versione 2012 Chiara, trasparente all’inizio, poi si sporca un pò di sedimenti. Poca schiuma chiara. Acidula e leggermente speziata. Elegante.

2012 version at Cantillon

Head: small, white
Colour: gold/slight amberish
Smell: deff. rhubarb, very sour and dry
Taste: dry, sour, nice bitterness level, nice rhubarb flavour, flavour stays long in the mouth, really fine Lambic !

this is more of a nice geuze for me than a fruit lambic, i could taste the rhubarb but it was very hidden in the lambic.. it was very nice as a geuze but not so much as a fruit lambic!

Bottle at Cantillon - pours hazy light golden with a light head. Nice funky aromas, dried fruits. Mellow mouthfeel slight bitterness bit salty and nice crisp citrus sourness. Great beer

In short: A very bright funky clean lambic with refreshing juicy vegetal notes.
How: Tap at Dieu Du Ciel, Montreal, Zwanze Day 2012.
The look: Mostly clear pale golden body topped by a white ring of foam.
In long: Nose is true lambic funk, unfocussed fruity and vegetal notes. Aroma was very bright and a bit cleaner than typical Cantillon, probably because of the very young age of the beer. In mouth the beer has a bit more of this nice juicy vegetal flavor that is probably rhubarb (I’m no expert in rhubarb flavor), bright funk, relatively low sourness for a Cantillon, medium acidity. Far from one of my favorite Cantillon, however I thought it had a character of its own, probably because it is the freshest/youngest Cantillon I ever had. I stood in line for a long time to get this rare beer, and I saw lots of emotions on the faces of the people waiting in this line, I saw excitement, I saw anticipation, I saw exasperation, I saw impatience, but I didn’t see any pride, you never see any pride on the faces of people standing in a long line to get a beer.

Golden-orange colour with a small white head. Aroma is fruit, malt, funk, sourness, lemon. Flavour is sourness, rhubarb, yeast, funk, lemon. Very nice beer.
