Commercial Description:
Every year, Cantillon has open brewing days, with animation, known as "Zwanze" in Brussels’ dialect. Fortwith, a special beer will be released every year, with every year a new ingredient: rhubarb for 2008.

Bottle at WSF. Bright, luminescent hazy golden with nice degree of carbonation. Nice mild lambic aroma has some pedio. Can definitely smell the rhubarb. Smooth, soft carbonation. Really smooth, almost nutty palate is fabulous. Not so sour but a good degree of funk. the fruitiness is barely there, which I like, allowing the lambic to come forward and leave its gently assertive character on my tongue. A very smooth beer I would like to revisit.

Cloudy golden with a lasting white head. Aroma has vegetable notes, a complexity of old hops and sulphur, with citrus notes. Dry and tart, but rather mild for a Cantillon. I thoought I noticed some hops in the finish.

Clear golden with a medium white head. Aroma had lemons, barnyard and rhubarb. Sour flavour with barnyard, wood, leather and rhubarb. Finished sour. Much like a Gueuze really.

Bottle@WSF09. Aroma of leather and sulphur. Hazy, yellow colour, white head, fair lace. Sweet, sourish, hint of vinegar, leather, light fruity, oak. Sourish dry mouth feel.

Small, but resistant head, even little rings of lace; fully hazy orange-green beer. Very malty smell for a lambic, and - no mistake possible - rhubarb nose, like freshly made rhubarbjam. Nice soft lambicflavours, even some sweetness, and tantalizing glimpses of horse blanket, rhubarb, garden herbs, preserved ginger and Szechuan pepper. Very dry finish, just great. Medium bodied, slick. Perfect balance. Jean is progressing with light-year strides. This is no "Zwanze" at all!

Thanks Michele. Dark golden with a veil of white foam. Aromas are the peculiar Cantillon funkiness with a gracious citric note, some herbal perhaps and just an hint of cellar. Very mellow MF thou quite tart, astringent. I don’t know what rhubarb taste like, but I hardly notice differences in a blind between this and a "straight" Cantillon but for a subtle artichoke like note.

ChuckSlap Lambic Fest 08. Thanks to Chuck for sharing. Pours a nice slightly hazy golden strawlike typical lambic with average carbonation for a 2yo lambic. Aroma is a bit grassy- some celery and vegetable, but no DMS- I dont really see the Rhubarb though- still tons of the normal cantillon funk and some good dank barnyard, mildewy cobwebs and a bit of cheesiness. Has a great powerful sourness and acidity throughout espicially in the end- along with just a bit of earth, flowers, funk, and grassiness. Delightful nice woody astringency, and good sharp lactic acid in the end. Another awesome lambic from my favorite Lambic Brewery.

750ml from Jean Van Roy courtesy of Chuck Cook. Almost appears to have a pinkish hue, every so slightly. Slight vegetal aroma reminiscent of celery is present. Flavor is signature Cantillon with an dry mineral like finish on the back of the palate. The Rubarb does show itself, but definitely not over powering. Quite nice indeed.
