On tap @ Sherwood Pub, Nicorvo, Italy. Itís amazing how this drink dug in some taste memories of mine. Poured an absolutely gorgeous golden-orange with a fluffly off-white foam. I could feel the same smell you can find in many basements were they keep wine here where I live, some leather and, last but very present, the rhubarb note, very balsamic, with hints of honey and lemon. Really impressive. At the first taste I could feel the back of my jaw almost aching for the carbonation and the acidity, just like with fizzy candies, then it got really pleasant, the rhubarb/balsamic note mellowing the classic lemony lambic acidity. Very light in body, leaves your mouth dry and craving for more. I really hope it becomes a regular, Iím not a big fan of sour beers, but everyone liked it.

Cloudy orangy color under a little foam hat. The smell is sour and dry. The beer reminds me strongly of the cantillon iris. Maybe a not more on the aggressive sour side than on the hoppy one. The aftertaste is typically sour and long lasting. This beer meets my taste buds almost perfectly.

Golden color with big white head. Fresh, funky and bitter. Rhubarb is always interesting. It has that magical funk feeling. Very refreshing, but still challenging. Fizzy carbonation. Amazing! A masterpiece.

January 23, 2015. Bottle at Cantillon, as Zwanze 2012. Shared with Douberd.
Golden with a white head. Aroma is earthy, funky, citrus with the typical rhubarb acidity. Taste is tart fruity with rhubarb, lemon and apple skins along with earthy barnyard notes, dry and lasting acidic finish. Light to medium bodied, soft carbonation.

Pours hazy golden with frothy head, medium retention. Aromatic elements that come up are pepper sniff, hop acids, earth, sour, tartness, co2. Taste is predominantly rubarb peel, lactic acid, barnyard, hops, grapefruit, citrus. Strong acidic aftertaste, lingers on forever! We have the bitterness of the rubarb and hops combined, to thank for that.

(Cantillon Zwanze (2008)) 750 ml bottle shared with hackobock, as Zwanze 2012. Slightly hazy body, bright golden yellow in colour, big white head, thick enough to have a good retention. Aroma of grapes, cork, wood, vegetables-like aroma but the ones that grow on a field, difficult to describe. Taste is quite sour with again the aforementioned vegetables, I guess is the rhubarb, wild plantation, light white sour grapes. Quite tart on the palate, medium thin body, average carbonation. Good, surely interesting.

Draught (as Cantillon Zwanze 2012). Orangeish golden colour, small white head. Aroma is tart wood, earth, mild grass and some berryish notes. Flavour is tart wood, some berries/fruits and mild earthiness. Could do with some more age.

Bottle from Cantillon Brewery. Super wonderfully sour, finding the rhubarb is like playing hide and seek, it appears slightly at the end of a sniff and then disappears to sometimes pop up a bit in the far back corner of your mouth. I donít know, not the perfect rhubarb sour, but damn delicious.

One-off from Cantillon, a rhubarb lambic, with some added sugars for refermentation, necessary because rhubarb contains less fermentable sugars than fruits. Loose, cream white, thin head, pretty deep orange blonde colour, cloudy. Complex Cantillon aroma of hay, lemon, sherry, sweat, sulphuric accents, fresh acidity in the onset, very quenching, lots of champenoise carbonation, fruit sourness which probably, but subtly, represents the rhubarb; sherryish and tart Cantillon character but somewhat softer and less acerb than usual from this brewery, bit thinnish end. Not the best Cantillon I had, but interesting nonetheless.

2012 Bottle at Cantillon. Drank this immediately after the unblended lambic and it had a lot of similarities besides the pleasant rhubarb in the finish. Really drinkable, and if you dig rhubarb, really pleasant.

Bottle, shared by Tom10101 @ Cantillon Brewery, labeled as Zwanze 2012. Pours a hazy golden beer with a medium sized, bubbly white head on top. Aroma has feces, sulfide, mineur and barnyard. Really some fecal presences in here. Flavor is light sour, medium fruity and has some leathery influences. Sour apples and a vineous presence complete this beer. Aftertaste is fairly tart and dry.
