Every year, Cantillon has open brewing days, with animation, known as "Zwanze" in Brussels’ dialect. Fortwith, a special beer will be released every year, with every year a new ingredient: rhubarb for 2008.

Draft at moeder lambic fontainas , at zwanze day 2012 Pours hazy blonde white steady foam smells very sour . Taste is also very sour , just thete at the boundery of still being good . Not realy a fan of the rhubarb , so it was way better than expected . Nice carbo , so glad i had the chance to taste this !

Very herbal, vegetal aroma, some rhubarb and a lot of funk. Taste is soft in the beginning, but then the tartness kicks in. Beautiful long rhubarb fruity finish. Very funky

(750ml bottle as Zwanze 2012 @ Cantillon brewery, July 25 2015) Pours nearly clear gold with a big lingering white head and no lace. Aroma is surprisingly fresh and almost salty with rhubarb giving tartness, a bit of a vegetal character like steamed celery, tart berry character almost like sea buckthorn. Funk is wet leaves in the forest. Palate is really quite rhubarb forward, tart and somewhere between fruity and vegetal. Sourness is on the lactic side, a bit of kefir and soft lemon. The finish is a little less wild than most with funk being dusty and wood light. Lightish of body with high effervescent carb. The rhubarb is really nicely integrated and yet still quite prominent, and the whole sour/tart character of the beer is just beautifully balanced. Ultimately, the charm is that this beer is so goddamn drinkable. Would be perfect outside on a hot summer afternoon. Beauty.

Vintage 2012 dégustée à la brasserie. Couleur orangée et bien sûr non filtrée et très trouble affichant une mousse importante. Fortes arômes herbacées de jardin, rhubarbe. Bière plus sûr qu’acide, elle présente des notes quelque peu boisées, fongiques à la limite terreuses. Je déguste cette bière à la manière de la tarte à la rhubarbe que nous avions l’habitude de manger à la maison à Saint-Ours pendant mon enfance! Le Bonheur!

Bottle at Cantillon. Zwanze 2012. Hazy Gold with a small White head. Nice fruity aroma with a touch of menacing sourness. Not too much though. Tastes acidic and has a very pronounced Rhubarb flavour. Reminded me of when we had rhubarb growing in our back garded when I was wee. Sour and earthy with a delicious acidity. Delicious.

UPDATED: JUN 16, 2015 Bouteille 750ml, 2012. Couleur dorée trouble, mousse blanche laissant un anneau sur les parois du verre. Arôme de rhubarbe, acidité, levure sauvage, champignon. Goût de rhubarbe, malt, bonne acidité. Carbonatation moyenne, corps moyen.

Bottle at brewery. Tart rhubarb aroma with white grape and faint vanilla. Almost totally clear orange yellow under a lasting, white collar. Sour and gueuzey at first before the rhubarb kicks in, which works beautifully. Mouth puckering sourness, moderate to medium carbonation, crisp.

Bottle (750 ml) @ Cantillon 150515. [ As Zwanze 2012 ]. Fruity and bretty with rhubarbs, acidic, medium body with a watery texture. The finish is dry and fruity with rhubarbs. A wonderful beer!

Bottle pour as 2012 Zwanze at the source. The beer is a slightly hazy copper with a white head of foam. The aroma is juicy, sour, rhubarb goodness. Like a nice rhubarb pie. The taste has that rhubarb sourness through the finish. Lingering finish with the taste of rhubarb. Man, this beer is good! It makes for an awesome landmark 3500 rate.

Bottle at the brewery, marked as Zwanze 12. Pours a clear deep golden color with an off white head. Very unique aroma, with a mix of herbs and spices, with a good sour lambic backbone. Very sour flavor that lingers long into the finish, but offset by the rhubarb character. In my top 3 of the Cantillon beers I’ve tried so far.
