4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 JorisPPattyn (6420) - Antwerpen, - APR 26, 2009
Small, but resistant head, even little rings of lace; fully hazy orange-green beer. Very malty smell for a lambic, and - no mistake possible - rhubarb nose, like freshly made rhubarbjam. Nice soft lambicflavours, even some sweetness, and tantalizing glimpses of horse blanket, rhubarb, garden herbs, preserved ginger and Szechuan pepper. Very dry finish, just great. Medium bodied, slick. Perfect balance. Jean is progressing with light-year strides. This is no "Zwanze" at all!

Bottle at Zwanze day at Spuyten Duyvil, courtesy of Ryan. Big thanks for this one. Pours a hazed gold with a soft white head. Soft sweetness, a touch of minerals. Very faint cheesiness, almost a hint of vegetal cat pee. Cheesy, softly funky, soft and sweet. Long sweet cheesy funk. Light acid, very cheesy.

750mL shared by Dstructo, thank you sir. Hazy gold, small white head. Not really getting any rhubarb in the nose--mainly musty hay and lemon, old wood. Flavor has some light sweetness, otherwise old wood and lemons with moderate old wet barn is where it’s at. Miscellaneous fruitiness toward the finish, dry with bitterness at a 2-3, sourness 4-5. Light body, light to moderate carbonation. Quite tasty.

Bottle shared by Ryan, huge thanks. The rhubarb is there, though I don’t know if I’d know without the hint. Sheep milk cheese and cherry pits are fleeting in the aroma, with mild sage. Clean cinnamon, a spot of fruit, but mostly a fairly mellow gueuze. Tasty but perhaps too old already.

Huge thanks to Nerd for opening this up and to Shane for constant pestering so he did open it up... looks like a regular cantillon... the aroma is medium funk with a light sweet note that I suppose is the rhubarb, sadly a think most of the rhubarb is gone, would love to have this a couple years ago... tastes like a straight gueze that’s a beat sweet... worth trying but don’t give up a ton for as the rhubarb is gone

Big thanks to nerd for sharing this awesome rarity. Somewhat hazy golden in color with a half finger of white head that lasts. Funky barnyard aroma with a bit of rhubarb and floral notes. Great flavor too, lots of barnyard with little sweetness, fruit, and floral hop notes. Medium-bodied and dry with good acidity. Really good. Not particularly fruity but great in a gueuze sort of way.

Taste is rich with sweet clean funk and a hint of vegetal floral sweetness. musty oak dry and a touch tannic. Feel is light/ medium with low/ moderate carbonation. Highly drinkable. there is a unique characteristic that brings an interesting component to the mix.
4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 fiulijn (10000) - Como, ITALY - JUL 13, 2011
Cloudy deep blond color; medium sized head, fizzy. Very peculiar aroma for a Cantillon; dandelions, cellar, cobwebs, soil, light manure. Very smooth mouthfeel, with a clear cheesy and manure flavor, sour, citrusy and dry. Very peculiar, and very interesting.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Koelschtrinker (6543) - Köln (Cologne), North Rhine-Westphalia, GERMANY - MAY 30, 2011
Sommer-Lambic! /11/11/10//11
