Tap @ Pikkulintu. Poured ruby, amber with a thin head. Nice looking. Aroma has barnyard, light rhubarb, tart and woody notes. In the flavor you really notice the rhubarb, very tart, mouthdrying, funky and apple notes. fresh rhubarb in finish. glad I got to try this unique beer.

75cl bottle as "Zwanze 2012", rebrewed, shared at source 2016-IV with Oedipus Sander et al. - - Bref: rhubarb juice sluiced through a bicycle inner tube of phenols and tannins. - Soggy green yellow pour. Smells rubbery and faintly vegetal, before the funky lemons come through - has the rhubarb been peeled at all? A basso continuo of citric fruits closer to pure lemon juice buries hints of rhubarb, peel bitterness - delivered with the citric attack of unripe green rhubarb. Fleshy textures in the wheat lacto. Odd blend, feels young.

75cl bottle @ Cantillon as Zwanze 2012. Pours pale gold. Aroma is light lambic funk. No rhubarb whatsoever in aroma or taste. Pleasant, light lambic but little complexity. Disappointing in that regard.

Bottle at Cantillon brewery. A stunning beer, very smooth. Subtle rhubarb taste, slight vanilla undertones and lacking the acicity you’d expect.

Pale yellow colour. Nice white head. Acidic, flowery, grassy, complex aroma.
Intensive barnyard, horseblanket at the beginning. Oakiness, white wine in the middle. Woody and sour finish. Probably one of the best geuzes I have tasted. Competes definitely with 3 Fonteinen Golden Blend. Has some complexity which comes only with age.

UPDATED: JAN 20, 2016 Zwanze 2012 at the brewery. I dont even know what rhubarb is, so it was confusing to me. But its Cantillon and really great brew.

Bottle - Zwanze 2012. Initially pours a clear golden yellow with a thin mostly lasting foamy white head. Aroma of hay, white grapes, citrus, apricots. Taste is of white grapes, lemon, tart, loads of rhubarb on the finish. Medium to hard carbonation, light oily mouthfeel.

This is that beer. The one you’ve had before and every time you have it you have no idea what to expect. It can be anything in between mind blowing and "good." lots of bottle variation here, but I’ve found that the labeled bottles taste better than the unlabeled ones. Not sure why that is, but the horse blanket is strong with this one.

At Cantillon. Bottle labeled "Z12". Hazy golden with white head. Apricot, sea buckthorn, rhubarb, hay, wood. Sour and salty/mineral. Very subtle fizzy carbonation.

Bottle shared at Cantillon as Zwanze 2012. Slight hazy golden with short lasting white head that leaves some super small cute bubbles. Light funk and hay, cheese, light almonds, a bit mineral. Rhubarb, fresh apricots and sour berries but not too overpowering. Medium sour with light bitterness and a touch of salt. Medium bodied with sparkly carbonation. Very good.
