4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Review taken from notes I wrote on a scrap of paper. Served on tap at Zwanze Day ’11 at West Lakeview Liquors. Sampled in my newly acquired Cantillon tasting flute. Zwanze pours a light pinkish red with about a half fingers worth of thin white head. Not much to add in terms of lacing as the head dissipates rather quickly. Nose is predominately pepper, grape, light cherry, lemon rind, grass, must, and horse blanket. The taste follows suit with more grape and lemon rind, cob web, and pepper on the finish. I was told at Zwanze Day that the pepper character actually came from the grapes that were used in Zwanze ’11....pretty interesting. The mouthfeel is light to medium bodied, with pleasant acidity, light carbonation, and a nice finish. Though I still need to try Zwanze ’08 (which I thankfully have in my cellar), this has been my favorite of the series by far. I hope Zwanze Day happens for years to come, couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 16/20
Enjoyed as the Pinot d’Aunis 75CL at Cantillon in March of 2015. Split 2 ways in tasters.
A - Purple pour, dark pink in the glass with a 2 finger pink head.
S - Nose is great. Very vinous with grape skin, merlot, some cherry and lemon tart.
T - Taste is nice. More wine forward than any other Cantillon I’ve had. Like sniffing a red wine that’s been diluted with lemonade.
M - Thin, not a lot of mouthfeel, very one-dimensional. Tastes single barrel and not a blend
O - Despite the lack of body, the taste of this was really wonderful!

3.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Dark oily ruby red with a thin layer of pink foam. The smell is grapey sour. No carbonation. The taste goes into the direction of red wine/grapes, while being sour with a spicey, kind of peppery, note. The aftertaste contains a little sour kick when you swallow it. Surprising and pleasant.

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Has a sherry, dark red, very saturated color, with a small, fizzy head.
Smells of oaky barnyard, wet hay, ripe, spicy grapes, wrapped up by a pleasant sourness, inheriting apple skin and citrus peel.
Tastes of red, matured grapes which got an earthy pepperiness to them, as well as balancing, mellow, wooden malts. The pepper is recognizable in the most pleasant way, accentuating the rich grape foundation of the beer, brought down to a round figure by a tart, fruity acidity. Due to the spicy pepper infusion this becomes much more complex than any druiven lambic I have tasted so far, complimenting the stone qualities of the grapes, as well as adding a maturing, oaky aspect to them. Finishes very tart, sour, with a convincing dry note to it, revealing characteristics of a young, slightly fermented wine.

Purple red, crimson colour, pink head. Very fruity, grapes, lactic acid, nice funky notes. Light sour flavour, fruity grapes, red fruits, not so much wine but more fresh grape character. Feels quite fresh overall anyway. Fruity finish, light citrus, lingering lactic acid. Nice!

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle at Cantillon, as Pineau d’Aunis. Deep and clear ruby, thin head. Rich cherry and plum aroma, some funky Brett but mostly rich stone fruit. Light and spritzy body - very drinkable. Medium acidity, nowhere near as harsh as expected, much more balance than St Lamvinus. Some residual grape juice sweetness. Sourness intensifies on the finish, lightly minerally. Very easy to drink.
