SperkeleForce (762) - - SEP 15, 2013
Draught at Pikkulintu. Pours murky brown dark orange amber with minimum head. Notes of vinegar, sour, apples, very bitter at the beginning, floral. Taste is funky, bitter, sour. Kind of weird. Does not seem like an trippel.

Bottle at Cantillon. Opaque amber pour with a white head. Malty aromas. Malty with muted sour notes. Hop characteristics with mild sour lemon and citrus backbeats. Average body and mouthfeel.

Bottle to glass at the brewery. Pours an amber color with a small white head. Very different than the other beers I tried at the brewery. Has a trappist character to it, candy sugar, minimal tartness. Smooth and a bit boozy. Nothing compared to the other offerings at Cantillon.

Bottle. Amber with white head. Aroma of raisins, grapes, oxidised notes, resin, musty. Taste is oxidised, resinous, caramel. Quite sour. Tastes a bit like a very old ipa.

Old notes. Draught @ Akkurat. Zwanze Day 2013, 14th Sept.
App: Amber, slight haze, short dirt white head.
Aroma: Some toffee/caramel, oranges, red/yellow apples, earthy, bitter weeds, sap, some cranberrie juice, paprika, some stale dirty water.
Taste: Grapefruit, lemon, apples, young nectarines, some straw, dry bitter finish with sap and raw vegetables.
Palate: Medium body, soft tickling bubbles, woody harsh texture.
Overall: What a crash! Afterwards it actually feels like I’ve been drinking some kind of geueze, but during it felt more like a bad home brew IPA that went down the drain. Feels like there should be some sweetness there, but it’s dry and harsh like a desert with only Aspirin to eat. Raw sharp bitterness that clashes with a dry acidity. Stale earthy notes. Phew!

UPDATED: FEB 21, 2015 Darker than usual orange color. Funky and aroma hops. Caramel. Toast. Bitter. Sourness fits in well. A crazy beer, so complex. Doesn?t really give a bigger picture. I appreciate it, but it?s just too much...

From notes. Tasted on 9/14/13 on draft at Holy Grale’s Zwanze Day 2013. Pours hazy dark orange with an average white head that leaves thin lace. The nose is bretty brown sugar malt with a light touch of baking spices, and the slightest hint of some lemon juice sourness. The flavor is very dry and a little more tart lemon pith with plenty of funky brett and brown sugar malt. The body is medium with gripping tannin, lively carbonation, and a long bitter toasted and lightly tart finish.

Bottle at Cantillon. Golden brown colour. Aroma is very interesting, fruity, bit smelly. Taste is light. Very little sourness, almost some boozy sweetness. Finish is fruity, citrus, and bit of tropical fruit. Grapes too maybe. Further down sourness comes hard. Flat creaminess. Good stuff.
