Fisherman’s IPA is an India Pale Ale handcrafted by the docks of America’s oldest seaport, Gloucester, Massachusetts. Made with the finest imported 2-row barley and a healthy helping of Chinook and Sorachi Ace hops, this is a remarkable well-balanced version of this style and should not be missed.
Malts: Pale, Crystal 70-80 LB, Cara-pils
Hops: Chinook, Sorachi Ace

From the 12 fl. oz. can. Medium yellow-amber pour under a long last cream colored head. Caramel and bready malts at first greet the nose and then the floral, pine, and fruity hop sensations are there. Medium body. Some roasted malt sweetness but this is more of a fruity and floral hopped up IPA. Bitterness lingers some.

(Rating #5888)

Reviewed from notes. This was poured into a pint glass. The appearance had a decent hazy amber color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within about thirty seconds. The smell had the malts up front with a super light piney/spicing in the background. The taste was mainly sweet through the malts and the hops maintained their distance. On the palate, this sat about a light to medium on the body with a decent sessionability. Overall, not a bad IPA as it could be construed closer to the English side of IPA’s.

12 ounce bottle. Amber orange color. Big fluffy white head. Light toasted malt aroma with a touch of spicy hops. Bittersweet toasted malt flavor has a touch of sourness in the palate. Very nice malt backbone, but a touch lacking in the hops. Overall, a decent tasting ale that just misses on the hops you expect in an IPA.

Pours a dark honey color, with a two finger head. Aroma is quite malty, with and American style hop character. I'm smelling more malt than I would like. I think it lacks hops. Taste is the same as the smell. Quite a bit of malt, and not enough hops. Overall, it's an ok beer that I would pass by next time.

One-dimensional and coppery with no complexity to the malt or hops profile.

This is the first of 2 IPA’s in front of me that are brewed in Saratoga Springs, although you will not find that information here. Chewy grapefruit hops over light caramel malt aroma, perhaps some nutmeg spice. Robust, still copper-red appearance. Soft bitterness and background toffee malt of an old world ESB. Smooth body, easy drinking even if filling. Loses points against modern over hopped beers for being more traditional.

12oz bottle poured into a tulip glass. Slightly hazy deep amber color with a small white head. Earthy hops aroma, with light citrus notes and caramel malts. Juicy malt flavors, nice bitterness comes through fast, some nuttiness and mellow bitter citrusy fruit. Medium bodied, nicely carbonated, well balanced and quite nice.
