COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Fisherman’s Pumpkin Stout is a dark stout accentuated by flavors of the Autumn season. Using real pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice, the Cape Ann Brewing Company took a fresh take at the common fall seasonal. This rich dark stout offers an inviting pumpkin spice aroma that gives way to the delicate essence of real pumpkin.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown color with a small beige head. Nose is light pumpkin with some dark roasty dry notes, light earthy hops. Palate is medium with a nice tingle and slick oily finish. Flavors of light pumpkin with the earthy, resiny hop notes, some vinous notes, and a palate coating.

1 centimeter of fine, tan head which fades in 30 seconds to a ring. Black with glints of brown-red at the very edges. Aroma of pumpkin pie and a bit of roast (burnt coffee, toast.) Some dark coco. Body is watery, moderate, fat carbonation with little-to-medium burn. Lots of pumpkin, some nutmeg, general spice, mild coco. Dusty grain. Overall, a neat pumpkin stout, but disappointing in that it lacks the richness and body of a satisfying stout of any sort (unless your into more of a weak Irish variety.) I wish it went all the way, my palate is aching for more intensity.

(Rating #5890)

Sample at Kurtkeller 017: Pumpkin-tastic 02 on 10/13/2014. Opaque dark brown color with a medium foamy beige head tghat dissipates steadily. Mall patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roast malt, nutmeg and caramel. Medium body with flavors of caramel malt, pumpkin pie spices and slight chocolate. The finish is roasted malt and nutmeg. Decent overall.

Draft at Moriartys. Opaque pitch brown pour with a thin ring of off-white foam. Minimal lace. Nice that the dark stout malts take precedence over mild pumpkinish flavors (feels like squash). Some spice (cinnamon, nutmeg) but not the full-on Pumpkin Pie Spice notes. Definitely liquorice and light molasses in there as well. I appreciate the fact that this actually feels like effort was placed here to make this a stout and not just a stereotypical pumpkin stout - which is ironic given the name.

Bottle from City Swiggers, New York, NY. A dark brown/black coloured pour with a thin beige head on top. Sweet, pumpkin, spice aroma. Tastes similar, pumpkin, spice, really quite sweet.

Bottle. Pours a deep brown with a fairly thick tan head. Rich aroma of roast malts, chocolate, and a hint of pumpkin. The flavor has more pumpkin and spice (mainly cinnamon and nutmeg). More stout than pumpkin beer, and an interesting and enjoyable brew.

Bottled. Pours black with a small tan head. Aroma is cinnamon and pumpkin primarily with a hint of something else. Maybe nutmeg? Flavor is some cinnamon and pumpkin spice up front with a pretty robust malty character that youd’ expect from a stout. I think it balances it well but the flavor is really only slightly pumpkin spices. No big pumpkin flavors jump out, it’s also not super balanced. It’s an ok pumpkin stout, but it also has a mouthfeel and carbonation like a porter to me. Ok, nothing exceptional, but not bad.

Fishermans Pumpkin Stout bottle to Nonic pint. Really nice pumpkin beer. Great pie like aroma, lite sweetness, great balance. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

The body has very dark brown, nearly black color with a small white head on top. In no time the small head is reduced to just a wispy thin layer of off white foam. Lacing is next to nothing with just a few slick spots of lace. The aroma is that of a basic stout, dark roasted maltiness, with some modest pumpkin flesh notes and hints of spice. There is a nice light cinnamon and nutmeg spice blended into a nice roasty/toasty stout base. Pumpkin notes are also present but subdued. The overall feel was medium bodied and a little bit light and very drinkable.
