3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a midnight chestnut color, with a good 3 fingers of linen, off-white head. The nose is of espresso-like roasted barley, with light hints of autumnal spices.
The taste starts with creamy coffee, having hints of pumpkin and very light spices (cinnamon, nutmeg). The finish is bitter, and roasty, but not very spicy. The focus seems to be based around the stout being highlighted by pumpkin flavors, rather than pumpkin being the ringleader.
The body is medium, with a medium to long, black-coffee finish.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
12 oz bottle into a wine glass.
A: Pours a very dark brown color. The head is a one finger khaki shade with surprisingly good retention. Good rings of lacing are left on the glass, too.
S: Smells like a pumpkin ale. It’s reasonably well-spiced, but not extraordinarily so. I also pick up a little bit of caramel sweetness. Not much stout qualities come through, though, and that’s a bit of a problem.
T: Again, this is supposed to be a pumpkin stout, so where’s the stout part? I pick up mostly opening cinnamon/nutmeg with a touch of finishing caramel. Having said that, I actually get a touch of actual gourd character - and that’s pretty rare in a pumpkin ale (weird, eh?) It’s a bit imbalanced in terms of how the spice character overpowers the malt flavors, also.
M: The only suggestion that this is a stout is in the mouthfeel, which is both creamy on the front end and mildly dry on the back end. Carbonation is a bit high for the style, though. It really has a wonderful feel, but the thickness doesn’t do the drinkability any favors.
O: This is just another pumpkin ale I’m not terribly enthused by, and the stout part is a letdown. However, it’s not bad - it feels great in the mouth and isn’t undrinkable. It’s just kind of boring is all. Worth trying, but I won’t buy again.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
From the 12 fl. oz. bottle. Pumpkin ales and stouts together usually make me very happy and this is no exception. The pour is jet black with a tan head and decent lacing. The aroma is both subtle but forward with its pumpkin spice, dark baked malts, yeast note, and dark fruit. Great marks for how it smells! The body is medium. Oh those dark malts and pumpkin spices really kick in on the taste with this very unique roasty-toasty character. How did I miss this one before now?

Smells spicy and roasted malt. Like a nice pumpkin spiced Stout Taste is nice, well balanced and flavors really go well together. Like the stout base for the pumpkin better than the traditional lighter base. Enjoyable stout and pumpkin both individually.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle courtesy of AirForceHops. Thanks man! Pumpkin malt, light creamy chocolate, cinnamon/nutmeg aroma. Black with a ginormous brown head. Roasty charred malt, coffee, spice, and light pumpkin flavor with a roasty bitter finsh. Medium creamy body, moderate carbonation. A better than average pumpkin beer.

2.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 7/20
Ar: Dark caramel and nutmeg - earthy and mossy notes - more pumpkin pie spices in the background.
Ap: Dark brown, opaque - medium tan head with good retention, leaves a thin cap of lacing and a solid ring of foam.
T: Sour metallic flavor - not much else comes through - this seems infected.
P: Sharp and thin, very high carbonation - very dry finish.
O: This seems to be a bad sample, infected - too bad.
