| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 10, 2009 Draft. Ginger Man, NYC. Finally a pumpkin beer that gets the flavors of pumpkin pie and beer to work together. Maybe the secret is using a stout as the base. Deep brown to black body with a short but fluffy tan head. Nice aroma of pumpkin and spices - nutmeg, cinamon, allspice - alongside roasted malt, wood, smoke and peat. The flavor is lightly to moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and moderately bitter. Medium body, creamy texture that turns a little watery and lively carbonation. The stout adds a nice earthiness to the sweet pumpkin and spice. Nice. ante (2977), Stockholm, Sweden

Thanks to Tom for sending me a bottle of this in a trade. Still being somewhat warm outside despite being mid-November I cracked it open and was not disappointed. While this is not going to change the way I think about pumpkin seasonables it is still well thought out. Considering the price I would say this one is worth checking out unless you hate beers from late October/early November.
Aroma / Appearance - The walnut black body was fluid and full of life. Chocolate, sea salt, pumpkin, and nutmeg gave a nice bit of depth without overwhelming the nose. Sweet for the most part, it invites further reflection.
Flavor / Palate - Overdone white toast filled the mouth with a bit of unpleasant roasted flavor. Soon however it morphed into a comforting mix of chocolate, squash, and background bitterness. The finish was dry but tolerable. A bit of a letdown following the nose it was still drinkable. All told I might consider this again but other pumpkin seasonals are better crafted. beernbourbon (321), chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 21, 2009 Bottle. Pour is dark brown with minimal tan head. Aroma is prominent roasted malt with a light brown sugar and pumpkin background. the intensity of the pumpkin picks up more and more as the beer warms. Flavor is slightly sour roasted malt up front with a faint pumpkin-bread kick in the middle. Finish has a nice roasted malt finish with very little or no bitterness detectable. I feel that in most beers, the aroma is more complex and interesting than the flavor. However in this beer, the aroma is not as impressive as the flavor. Nice beer!
