COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Originating in England, porters evolved from a blend of beers known as “three threads”. A precursor to stout, porters are said to have been flavored by porters for other physical laborers. Medium bodied, rich roasted character with hints of chocolate and a faint bit of caramel.

From a draft pour at the Cape Ann brewpub in Gloucester, MA this poured a rich brown with a light tan head and good lacing. Nose of roasted malts with chocolate and coffee, and a hint of floral hops. Medium in body, and clean smooth mouthfeel. The flavor runs strongly toward the chocolate, and the finish is somewhat dry and bitter. A very easy drinking beer.

Draft. Pours near black with a beige head. Roasted malty aroma with light coffee notes. The flavor has black and roasted malts, light roast, light coffee, and a medium amount of sweetness. Pretty good.
