A dark, chocolaty ale was once the favored as the drink of the common man and physical laborers of East London, and the precursor to common day Stouts.

A fairly decent porter, a little too middle of the road for me. Not quite a chocolate porter like advertised, but still very easy to drink, nice malt foundation, very lightly hopped just to add a little bitterness to even it out a bit. nice one.

On tap at the British Beer Company’s Hyannis location. Pours a clear and deep brown to black with cola highlights under a medium sized beige head. Gently sweet cocoa, toast and roast with faint coffee hints. Smooth roast, chocolate and cocoa, nice and smooth. Well balanced, surprisingly good. Nice and subtle, finishing off with a smooth chocolate and roast bitterness. Definitely glad that my summer plans include visiting family in the Cape a few times since this was one of a couple of their beers that were really solid.

Very excited to be the first rater for this. Purchased a growler, from a local beer store in Cape Cod, as I missed the brewery tour. Pours a nice, dark brown with thinner caramel colored head. Aroma is of malt, chocolate and a slight note of roasted nuts. The same flavors come through, with a touch of hops. A friend with whom I enjoyed this beer called this "well-balanced." The locals in MA say this is the best beer the brewery puts out. I have to agree. A very good beer, and as this brewery finds it foothold, will probably only get better.
