4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 beerfest5 (806) - Simsbury, Connecticut, USA - APR 8, 2012
An unbelievable and rare style these days of over doing the alcohol content in most of the stouts coming out. This is an extremely flavorful coffee stout, really a milk stout infused with delicious coffee. Black and oily with a tan head that lasts a little while, the aroma is of freshly brewed coffee, chocolate, and some vanilla notes. Taste is pretty much the same. Absolutely enjoyable, gald to have gotten it.

750mL bottle. Poured very deep brown with a dense, well-retained rich brown head. The aroma picked up sweet milk chocolates, cocoa, and moderately-roasted, earthy coffee.. everything worked very together.. excellent nose! The flavor didn’t hold up quite as well.. metallic coffee-inspired tanginess the whole way through.. milk chocolates and rich coffee were deeper down, and not as prominent as they needed to be.. sour finish, but there was a nice hit of residual coffee roast that I enjoyed (hard to find). Medium-bodied with moderate-plus carbonation on the palate.. sour as mentioned.. this started out great, and fell off fast.

@Victors Fantasy Tasting-750ml bottle-Thanks j12601-pours a brown head and black color. Aroma is coffee, roasty dark malt, secondary earthy. Taste is biting earthy hops, coffee, roasty dark malt. Not my style, but James-nice job.

Bottle shared by Jay at Victor’s tasting at Paul’s. Pours black. Tan head. Nose and taste of superb coffee, vanilla and toasted chocolate malt. Mild lactose doesn’t overpower but rather creates what can best be described as iced coffee beer. Very smooth and well crafted. Medium body.

Bottle that I took to Victor’s bracket box tasting at Paul’s. Pours a deep black with a medium to large tanned beige tan head. Super huge coffee, big and roasty, thick with roast. Medium bodied, loads of roast. Possibly more coffee flavor than I’ve ever found in a beer. Really nice. Long slow chocolate and coffee, great roast. Amazing. Kicking myself for not buying up the other handful of bottles of this that they had left.
